2023: Announcement of the creation of a cluster for 6.5 billion rubles

At the end of August 2023, the mayor Moscow Sergei Sobyanin announced the construction of a quantum cluster in the city. About 6.5 billion will be invested in this project, the mayor of the rubles capital said.

According to him, 27 laboratories and 15 scientific groups of the Russian Quantum Center will appear inside the cluster. Also, startups will be developed in the cluster and small-scale production will be carried out.

Sobyanin recalled that quantum technologies are used in such areas as IT, medicine, pharmaceuticals, aviation and rocket science, the auto industry, microelectronics and agriculture.

Financing of the cluster will be carried out through the Moscow Fund for Support of Industry and Entrepreneurship with the help of investment lending, the rate will be 3%.

As noted in the Moscow mayor's office, quantum technologies are actively used in various sectors of the economy - the automotive, pharmaceutical and medical industries, aviation and rocket science, microelectronics, agriculture and information technologies. The most promising applications of these technologies are data transmission (quantum networks) and computing (quantum computers).

Moscow is the largest Russian center for the development and introduction of quantum technologies in Russia. Leading specialized scientific centers and enterprises are concentrated in the city. In recent years, a number of scientific and technological accelerators have been launched and many pilot projects in the field of quantum technologies have been successfully implemented, the Moscow government said at the end of August 2023.[1]
