2023: Launch of production of higher fatty alcohols for 21 billion rubles
At the end of August 2023, the Russian company Farus announced the launch of the production of higher fatty alcohols (HHS) based on a new technology for their synthesis. This will reduce dependence on the supply of HHS from abroad.
HHS - the necessary raw materials for the production of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, reagents in petrochemicals and oil production and a variety of other products. By August 2023, according to Farus shareholder Linar Fattakhov, Russia imports 100% of ILI from Germany, Indonesia and Malaysia.
To create its own technology, a group of scientists, including from the Russian Academy of Sciences, studied all the methods of production of HHS available in the world. As a result, organoaluminum synthesis was taken as a basis, and then refined. In July 2023, the company patented its development in the Russian Federation and the EAEU.
The company will be able to produce import-substituting raw materials for the production of personal hygiene products, fuel additives, paints and varnishes, plasticites, pesticides and fertilizers. Production is called "unique to Russia." The company will be able to employ about 400 specialists.
The technology for the production of VHS is indeed important for the Russian industry, since it implies subsequent synthesis into other components, the Ministry of Industry and Trade told Izvestia. Therefore, the department, like other ministries, implements various programs to support developers.
The technology is included in the list of priority projects - basic chains for the development of the chemical industry, included in the import substitution plan. This allows the company to use measures to support the Industrial Development Fund (FRP), for example, a cluster investment platform is perfect - a very promising support measure, the department added.[1] |
