Yaroslavl Radio Plant: Special transport for servicing the landing of returned manned spacecraft vehicles

JSC Yaroslavl Radio Plant"" (NRZ, part of the holding "Russian space systems State Corporation" Roskosmos") is developing a specialized transport facility for landing and primary service areas for returned manned space spacecraft. Work is underway under the Federal Target Program "Development of Cosmodromes for the Period 2017-2025 to Ensure Space Activities." of the Russian Federation Roscosmos announced this on August 31, 2023.

The tasks of the created mobile complex of technical means include monitoring the negotiations of the crew of the returned vehicle with the search and rescue group, transmitting voice and video information, transporting maintenance personnel to the landing site, as well as storing the equipment used at the landing site.

The basis of the car will be a transport base on the chassis of the KamAZ off-road with a van body, inside and outside of which equipment is located, including radio equipment. The van provides comfortable temperature and living conditions for the work of personnel at any time of the year and day, as well as the workplace of the work manager. The vehicle can use both its own and external power supplies. We plan to complete the work in 2024, said Dmitry Makarov, deputy head of the design bureau of Yaroslavl Radio Plant JSC.

A prototype vehicle, which has already been manufactured by specialists from the Yaroslavl Radio Plant, will be tested both on the territory of the NRZ and at the facilities of the Center for the Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure JSC (TsENKI, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), which is engaged in the creation and technical equipment of landing areas.
