For our factory, the introduction of lean tools is a serious step. According to the results of diagnostics, we identified a number of problems. Including, with inter-technical and inter-operational logistics. We organized targeted storage of equipment tooling, developed standards for workplaces, created instructions, which was not previously available. We also conducted a survey of all employees and got acquainted with their vision of production problems,

The main step, in addition to identifying all problems, was production analysis. He gave us a lot of material to analyze the difficulties in implementing the plan. Now in cases of departure from the plan, we conduct a daily hourly production analysis to adjust our actions,

2023: Training of employees in lean production with the help of the "Regional Competence Center of the Kaluga Region"

Employees of the Romer shoe factory underwent the first stage of training in lean production within the framework of the national project "Labor Productivity." The course is taught by experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC). The center is an operator of the national project and operates on the basis of the Business Development Agency of the Kaluga Region. This was reported on September 5, 2023 in the Agency.

Training of employees and training of trainers for the subsequent transfer of knowledge are included in the program for the implementation of lean production tools at enterprises. For companies participating in the national project "Labor Productivity," trainings are held free of charge. Experts will learn what lean production is, how it helps the enterprise to improve financial and working indicators, working conditions of people. After training, participants are ready to apply knowledge in practice and implement their own projects.

The training includes two modules - basic and additional programs. Romer employees passed the first of them and studied five topics:

  • the basics of lean production, where participants get acquainted with its idea, learn the tools with which to improve processes;
  • implementation of improvement projects. Employees will know the work plan for the nearest, time stages and key indicators of the project;
  • production analysis. Specialists learn to collect information about indicators, to identify problems in a timely manner. Learn the tools to quickly solve them and prevent them in the future;
  • mapping - visualization of workflows - allows you to diagnose processes, identify bottlenecks, problems that you have to work with during the project;
  • system of efficient and safe organization of the 5S workspace.

Teaching all of us was very inspiring. The coach explains clearly, gives interesting material. We learned how lean technology actually works. Of course, everything will be difficult to apply them - after all, we have a specific, shoe production, but we will try to make the most of the knowledge gained. After completing the first training module, we took a different look at workflows, understood how they can be improved. Now we will work on this and wait for the next trainings,
Galina Protopopova, head of production at the Romer factory, shared the results of the training.

Now the enterprise team is waiting for an additional training module. They will study the organization of work on the rapid reconfiguration of SMED equipment, standardization of processes, analysis of equipment efficiency, its autonomous maintenance. For each program, employees receive a complete package of methodological materials created by national experts in the field of lean production.
