2023: Product Announcement

On September 10, 2023, American experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced the development of a friendly robot "Jibo," capable of not only recognizing, but also explaining the emotions of people in different languages.

"Jibo" uses the principle of positive psychology to provide guidance and support to people in need of emotional help. In particular, the robot is able to adapt user interaction based on its responses. The device analyzes a combination of verbal and nonverbal cues, such as long pauses and hugs, to recognize a person's emotional state. If "Jibo" concludes that the user displays strong emotions, they can express sympathy. On the other hand, when the interlocutor is closed, the robot asks additional questions, for example: "Can you tell me more?"

The smart device can also help in organizing effective interaction between parents and children during a joint pastime. The authors of the project believe that in the future "Jibo" can become a companion for the whole family. The robot will remind older people to take medication or support children during games. Moreover, the developers believe that the novelty will be able to prevent conflicts in the family, as well as improve the overall emotional state of the dwellers.

One area of work is the creation of specialized robots to help the children of Syrian refugees. Such intellectual devices will be able to teach children English and socio-emotional skills while allowing them to preserve their cultural heritage and knowledge of Arabic. In general, "Jibo" can become a personal coach for improving mental health.[1]
