2023: Launch of pilot project to connect stores to intelligent automated power management system

On September 25, 2023, M.Video-Eldorado Group launched a pilot to connect stores to an intelligent system for automated power consumption control using IoT devices (smart sensors, controllers and special software). The solution will be implemented in 650 stores across the country over three years. According to the results of the first months of the pilot in nine "smart" stores, electricity costs decreased by 1.5 times compared to comparable retail facilities. In general, by the end of the year, the technology will save about 11% of the electricity costs of the retail network.

As part of the strategy of sustainable development, M.Video and Eldorado are switching to energy efficient equipment in the retail network, as well as completely transferring 90% of stores to LED lighting, which reduces energy consumption for illumination by half. At the same time, the efficiency of LED lighting is three times higher compared to fluorescent lighting with a multiple reduction in the cost of replacing and recycling lamps.

Within three years, the retailer will also introduce a partnership solution for automatic control of engineering equipment and the main energy consumption groups - lighting, power grid and climate equipment. The system sets up optimal scenarios of equipment operation, including taking into account natural light and ambient temperature, and also promptly notifies technical personnel about malfunctions in the operation of engineering equipment. For example, lighting in stores turns on automatically an hour before opening and gradually, starting at 30% of the maximum power. The operation of all air conditioners in the room is also automatically coordinated based on changes in temperature in the room and outside.

Smart home algorithms implemented in our stores make it possible to provide the most comfortable conditions for making purchases and the work of our employees. The solution does not require capital expenditures and is quickly installed in stores, saves employees time for routine operations, and also ensures safety. Engineers instantly receive information about accidents, voltage surges or critical temperature changes. The system allows you to collect and organize consumption data, manage equipment in automatic mode and quickly respond to equipment problems, and also allows you to predict possible problems and take measures to prevent failures. In pilot mode, the system was introduced in nine large and most energy-consuming stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg. During the year, another 100 retail space will enter the contour of the project, and in total the project will cover 650 stores throughout the country in three years. Most M.Video and Eldorado stores already use energy efficient equipment, the introduction of a smart management system will allow us to provide more comfort to our customers and employees, as well as reduce the company's costs for utilities and equipment repairs.
said Sergey Korostelev, Head of the Network Construction and Operation Department of M.Video-Eldorado Group.
