2023: Instrument Announcement

On October 4, 2023, British specialists from the University of Bristol presented an automated system for conducting examinations for breast cancer. The device can be housed in pharmacies, for example, making it easier for women to access diagnostic procedures.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. According to data, in WHO 2020, breast tumors were diagnosed in 2.3 million women, while 685 thousand deaths from this disease were registered globally. Mammography is also used to identify malignant lesions ULTRASONOGRAPHY , however, to undergo appropriate procedures, you need to visit clinics and wait in line, so many women simply postpone diagnosis. The new device is designed to provide access to a reliable examination tool in convenient places and at any time.

Breast Cancer Screening Device

The device conducts an initial examination for the possible presence of malignant formations by palpation. The system consists of an array of special manipulators with sensors that are able to accurately detect lumps and lumps in the chest. When training the complex, the developers modeled thousands of palpations and many hypothetical scenarios. If possible pathological changes in the structure of the breast are detected, the patient will be recommended to undergo a more detailed examination.

It is assumed that the device will be able to identify seals at a greater depth and with higher accuracy than the doctor does. The system is planned to be endowed with artificial intelligence to increase efficiency and minimize errors. The instrument can also be combined with other existing methods, such as ultrasound.[1]
