K2 Tekh developed the "FM Driver" application for the logistics company FM Logistic, which transferred all communications with the dispatcher online. In it, you can indicate the status of the trip, set the "do not disturb" mode and promptly report any delay. For 10 months, the application covered more than 10 thousand users - every second driver of the company paves a route in it, contacts the dispatcher and closes the reporting documentation.

FM Logistic explains that in logistics, the dispatcher accompanies the driver at each stage of cargo transportation - from the start of loading the car to the end point of arrival and receiving all reporting documents. It must monitor the status of the flight in real time to promptly make possible adjustments and inform the customer of the arrival of the cargo. Previously, the most effective way to communicate with the driver was by phone. The dispatcher called the driver regularly - before loading, during loading, after its completion, and then at all stages of the flight. This approach made it possible to monitor the status of the cargo, but it took a lot of time for both the dispatcher and the driver. Sometimes the driver did not pick up the phone because of the situation on the road or simply could not hear the incoming call. In addition, conversations on the phone distracted attention on the road, which increased the risk of an emergency during the route.

With the advent of "Driver FM," everything became easier and safer. The application allows you to manage the flight without direct participation of the dispatcher, and all communications went online. The driver himself marks the beginning and end of the trip, informs the dispatcher about all incidents and can download all the reporting documentation. The number of calls decreased several times, although they did not disappear at all. But if the driver is on the way and cannot take the call for any reason, he can notify the dispatcher of this through the application.

On average, more than 10 thousand drivers throughout Russia use our application per month. If at the beginning every fifth driver used it, now the application coverage has grown to 55%. Both targeted mailing within the company and regular updates of the application based on feedback from users helped to achieve this result, "said Margarita Tabunova, director of local transport at FM Logistic.

In the development of the application, integrations with adjacent systems were used using the Kafka integration platform and the client bus. The developers also connected the ability to inform via SMS.

Initially, the functionality of "FM Driver" allowed only to mark the beginning and completion of the flight. All the tools that made the application special for their industry appeared in the process of refinement and in close contact with the FM Logistic team. Of the latest innovations, they made support for the application offline. Now, in case of loss of communication, the application aggregates all data and automatically sends it to the back end so that it is not lost, "said Ilya Simonov, deputy director for software development at K2Tekh.

The plans are to increase the percentage of use among drivers and reduce the number of push notifications.
