IBS helped localize the IT infrastructure of Arnest Packaging Solutions

2023: IT Infrastructure Localization

The IBS group of companies helped Arnest Packaging Solutions to localize the IT infrastructure after separating the local segment from the global network. The project lasted from November 2022 to June 2023. And after its completion, the customer's information systems were transferred to support IBS, which announced this on November 14, 2023.

In September 2022, the Arnest group acquired assets for the production of aluminum drinks cans from the American Ball Corporation, which, after changing ownership, were renamed Arnest Packaging Solutions and faced the need to localize the IT infrastructure as soon as possible.

The main challenge of the project was the need to migrate all information systems in less than a month, and simple software threatened to completely stop production. The IT infrastructure localization project started in November 2022. The IBS Group conducted an audit of business processes, during which more than 20 interviews with production managers took place and identified critical information systems. After that, a migration plan was developed and an IT infrastructure was created. The very migration of information systems and their placement on the company's local servers started in February 2023 and ended in March.

Both the ERP system, data warehouse, programs for tax accounting, planning, HR, and specialized software for packaging production, such as the IMS paint preparation system, Color IQ color control system and others, were transferred to the IT infrastructure. The migration took place without stopping production.

After localizing the IT infrastructure, IBS also audited the systems for the need for import substitution and accepted 15 IPs and services for support. For four months, the contractor's team has already registered and processed more than 1.5 thousand requests from users.

Thanks to close cooperation with the customer, we managed to seamlessly localize the IT infrastructure of Arnest Packaging Solutions and ensure the uninterrupted operation of information systems. The migration period allowed the customer not to lose sales market and production capacity. The plants continued to operate despite changes in the IT infrastructure, and thanks to the professional support of the IBS team, the new owners of Arnest Packaging Solutions can concentrate on their main business, "said Grigory Chetiy, managing partner of the IBS Metallurgy and Telecom segment.

In the context of round-the-clock production, our task was to ensure uninterrupted business operation and at the same time create a new infrastructure from scratch, including office jobs, transfer all systems critical to the business to it, and this is in the absence of a full-fledged IT department within the company at the initial stage and very limited time. As of November 2023, Arnest Packaging Solutions is a manufacturer of aluminum packaging for drinks in the Russian Federation. It includes three plants for the production of aluminum cans and a lid factory. Enterprises are located in the Moscow, Leningrad and Chelyabinsk regions. In addition, in 2024, the company plans to complete the construction of a plant for the production of aluminum cans in the Ulyanovsk region.
