2023: Product Announcement
On November 15, 2023, Amazon announced a security robot called Astro for Business, designed to patrol enterprise areas. The novelty allows owners to monitor their facilities around the clock from anywhere in the world where there is an Internet connection.
The robot is made on a wheelbase. It features a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen display with 1280×800 pixels and a 5-megapixel camera with 1080p video support and a 157.8 degree diagonal viewing angle. The camera is installed on a telescopic rod, thanks to which it can be extended to a height of up to 105 cm from the floor. The night vision function is implemented.
Astro for Business can patrol areas of up to 465 square meters. These can be, for example, shops, warehouses, office premises, etc. The owner of the object receives the image in real time through the accompanying mobile application. In this case, you can remotely control the robot: it is enough to indicate the area of interest through the screen of a smartphone or tablet, and the robot will go there for a more detailed view.
The automated security guard is powered by two Qualcomm QCS605 processors, a Qualcomm SDA660 chip and an Amazon AZ1 Neural Edge chip. There are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac adapters, as well as a 2.1 audio system with two 55 mm full-band front speakers and a passive emitter. The robot can log various events, such as the sound of broken glass and send notifications about it to its owner. The lithium-ion battery is responsible for power supply, which takes about 45 minutes to charge.
As of mid-November 2023, Astro for Business is offered for $2,350. To use the robot, you need a subscription worth from $20 to $100 per month, depending on the services selected.[1]
