Tesla Motors (DS V6)

The Dassault Systèmes (DS) company, software developer for three-dimensional design and product lifecycle management systems (Product Lifecycle Management, PLM), announced in October, 2010 readiness of Tesla Motors, producer of electric vehicles, to pass to V6 PLM platform.

Open, scalable V6 platform uses universal 3D - language and allows to participate in product lifecycle management by all that who is anyway involved in process of creation of a product. The sixth generation of the PLM solutions DS ensures joint work of all participants of development process and also allows to reduce the cost of deployment, management and support of a PLM system in a work progress over the innovation projects, says Dassault Systèmes.

Tesla started use of V6 platform, having begun with implementing solution for ENOVIA V6 joint work. Improvements and the preset templates in the last release of ENOVIA allowed more than in a month to test all width of functionality of a system, having prepared thereby the base for further successful implementation in real production processes. Concerning migration of working and administrative processes on the ENOVIA V6 platform the Tesla company cooperates with Idex Solutions company, the partner of Dassault Systèmes.

Start of a system of digital production DELMIA at the end of 2010 will be the second stage of implementation. All subsequent stages will be devoted to migration of the systems of author's development of Tesla company from CATIA V5 platform on CATIA V6 platform. Besides, Tesla uses the software package CATIA ICEM for modeling of difficult surfaces of class "A", DELMIA Human for the analysis of ergonomics of cars and also some other solutions including from partners of Dassault Systèmes company.

As noted, cooperation of Tesla and Dassault Systèmes began in 2007 when as a result of tender of Tesla stopped the choice on software solutions CATIA PLM Express and ENOVIA SmarTeam. Since then Tesla tested a set of different solutions of Dassault Systèmes and its partners. The close relations of two companies promoted rapid development of the Model S sedan preparing for release in the nearest future, noted in Dassault Systèmes. Also for optimization of production processes at the Tesla plant in the city of Fremont (California) it is going to use DELMIA – the solution for digital production.
