Enterprise Release

On April 10, 2025, MULTIFACTOR announced the release of the Enterprise version of the MultiDirectory directory service with official support from the vendor. MultiDirectory (MD) is a Russian directory service structurally adapted for Active Directory, which allows it to be used in environments where compatibility with this solution is required.

MultiDirectory has:

MultiDirectory 2.1.0 with 2FA in Kerberos and ByPass mode

The company MULTIFACTOR has released an update to the MultiDirectory directory service. The company announced this on February 12, 2025. Version 2.1.0 of MultiDirectory includes several key improvements and enhancements. One of the important additions is the function of flexible configuration of network security policies.

The administrator can choose for which protocol the security policy will apply, and can flexibly configure 2FA to apply to a specific security group:

• HTTP (login to the administrator's Web interface);
• LDAP (LDAP Interface Authentication Bind Requests)
• Kerberos (TGT requests).

This version of the product supports 2FA in Kerberos. In MultiDirectory, you can confirm receipt of a TGT ticket using Push notifications. This significantly increases the security of access to corporate resources, since even if the password is compromised, an attacker will not be able to gain access without confirming the verification of the second factor. It is important to note that the implementation of 2FA in MultiDirectory does not require any changes or additional settings from client applications. All logic for checking and processing push notifications is fully executed on the server. This simplifies the process of deploying and maintaining the system, minimizing the risk of errors and additional integration costs with existing applications, - commented Dmitry Makarov, Product Manager of MultiDirectory.

In addition, ByPass mode appeared in MultiDirectory. The developers of the MULTIFACTOR system have provided various scenarios in which the MULTIFACTOR cloud service may be temporarily unavailable. In such situations, the system automatically enters ByPass mode, which provides continuous user access to resources in critical situations. The MultiDirectory directory service checks not only network availability, but also the health of the MULTIFACTOR two-factor authentication system.

MultiDirectory 1.11.0 with Password Policy Support

On April 23, 2024, MULTIFACTOR announced the release of an updated version of the free LDAP MultiDirectory directory. This is a Russian development that replaces Microsoft's foreign Active Directory service and creates a secure ecosystem of the perimeter of any IT infrastructure. In addition to updating MultiDirectory, the MULTIFACTOR developers have created a separate site for this product.

We have finalized and improved the updated version of MultiDirectory. Thanks to the technological software stack and expanded functionality, our multi-platform LDAP catalog covers the needs of small and medium-sized businesses, and is also useful for corporate tasks in any industry, "said Valery Ablekov, CTO of MULTIFACTOR.

The updated version of MultiDirectory supports password policies. In addition, a dark theme has been added to the web application and the navigation function has also been updated there:

In addition, during the update process, upper-case support for DN records and Cyrillic passwords for accounts was performed, errors were fixed and the code was optimized.

It has become in demand not only among our colleagues, but also as part of import substitution.
