Community 2.7.0 и Enterprise 2.7.0e-01
On January 29, 2026, MULTIFACTOR, a Russian software developer on the IT and information security markets, presented updated versions of the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service - Community 2.7.0 and Enterprise 2.7.0e-01.
In the updated versions of MULTIDIRECTORY, we focused on improving the ease of administration. We added a global catalog for simplified access to resources, implemented history cleanup passwords , and banned the deletion of important system objects. Administrators will now be able to create contacts right inside the system, as well as the experience of interacting with the scheme domain will become easier thanks to the possibility visualization of reverse nesting. told Dmitry Makarov, Product Manager of MULTIDIRECTORY
Key changes to Enterprise 2.7.0e-01 and Community 2.7.0:
- Added Global Catalog. The Global Catalog is a centralized database that provides a global view of key information about all users, groups, and resources in a distributed directory infrastructure. It functions as a "pointer" or fast search index for the entire organization, which speeds up the processes of logging in and searching for data.
- Added the ability to clear password history. Administrators can now manually clear the history of a user's previous passwords. This feature optimizes the administration of employee accounts.
- You have added a ban on removing and moving system containers. To exclude accidental changes to important infrastructure elements, a ban on the removal and movement of system containers has been introduced. These objects contain critical elements of the system that can cause malfunctions or malfunctions.
- Added Contact entity. An entity appeared - "Contact." It is designed to store contact information of individuals who are not employees of the enterprise. For example, contacts of partners, customers or contractors are now convenient to store directly in the MULTIDIRECTORY directory, increasing the convenience of interaction and unifying the storage of contacts.
- The Services organizational unit has been renamed System. The Services organizational unit has been renamed System. This decision was made to better understand the purpose of organizational units and the convenience of administration. Renaming makes it easier for administrators to work and improves the readability of the directory structure.
- Added forced change of Kerberos principal password when duplicate LDAP entry. When creating a new Kerberos principal, if a similar entry is found in the LDAP directory, the system automatically initiates a password change procedure. This measure protects the infrastructure from name conflicts and prevents possible authentication failures.
- Added the ability to "select all/deselect" in the "Event Log." The administrator now has access to the Bulk Event Fetch feature in the Event Log. He can shoot and tag to log events that are important to him. This allows you to optimize your work with the log and perform bulk operations on selected items.
- Support for LDAPS connections has been implemented with the ability to download a root certificate for building domain trust (the function is available only in the Enterprise version). MULTIDIRECTORY now supports encrypted SSL/TLS connections (LDAPS). In addition, it became possible to download your own authentication center certificate (Root CA), used to authenticate server and client certificates. This optimizes the protection of transmitted data, reduces the likelihood of MitM attacks and provides additional confidence in the confidentiality of network traffic.
All of these changes improve the flexibility and security of MULTIDIRECTORY directory service management, optimize its scalability, and provide additional tools for efficient process monitoring and auditing.

MultiDirectory Enterprise 2.6.0e-01 with the option to reserve a rented address
On December 8, 2025, MULTIFACTOR announced the update of the Enterprise version of the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service to version 2.6.0e-01.
Among the key changes are the installation of individual password policies for different groups of users, the expansion of the role model functionality that also applies to the MULTIDIRECTORY administration interface, an increase in the list of group policies for Linux workstations, and much more.
Users can now set custom password rules for different categories of users. This feature increases the level of security by allowing you to set strict requirements for each category of users to create a password and replace it regularly.
The functionality of the role model has been expanded. Previously, only a user in the Domain Admins group could use the administration interface and had full rights, but now you can create your own set of roles with an arbitrary set of privileges.
The change helps to distribute rights between roles, assign the necessary access to the administrator panel in the MULTIDIRECTORY interface, and also helps to increase the efficiency of control over personnel actions.
The set of group policies designed specifically for centralized management of Linux workstations has been further expanded. Setting up workplaces is easier and faster thanks to a standardized approach to user management and the work environment.
What else has been done:
- Option to reserve leased address (DHCP) added
- Implemented by CLDAP (LDAP over UDP)
- In the administrator interface, when performing a password change, verification of the old password is added
- The ability to make a group the main one has been implemented
- Fixed the DONT_EXPIRE_PASSWORD issue in the userAccountControl attribute, etc.
MultiDirectory version 2.5.0
On October 23, 2025, MULTIFACTOR introduced a number of significant functional changes in the MULTIDIRECTORY Community directory service 2.5.0, which relate to the Community version and Enterprise. This update contributes to the convenience of working with the product and the development of an import-independent domestic solution.
Fixed the inability to delete a user/computer without their principals.
Resolved issues related to the inability to delete users and computers in the absence of their principal. Now the account management process is more stable and predictable.
Bitwise AND and OR operations added for Search request filter
To improve query efficiency, logical operators (AND, OR) are implemented within search filters. This allows you to optimize the work of the catalog and increase the speed of processing complex sampling conditions.
Reduced LDAP session lifetime at user password reset/reset
The lifetime of LDAP sessions was reduced at the time of resetting/changing user passwords. The measure is aimed at increasing the level of security and reducing delays when changing the status of accounts.
Removed the Catalog entity from the interface and thereby improved the readability and intuition of the settings.
Fixed Kerberos inaccessibility issue when disabling HTTP in access policy.
MULTIDIRECTORY Enterprise version 2.5.0-01e
Added DHCP-server (feature also available in Community version 2.5.0)
Now the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service has its own built-in network server for dynamic host configuration (DHCP), which automatically assigns IP addresses and other configuration parameters (subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, etc.) to devices on the local network. The DHCP server simplifies network administration and provides more flexible management of network resources within your infrastructure.
You have migrated to another basic OS in Docker containers (the function is also available in Community version 2.5.0)
Docker's containerization infrastructure was moved from Debian to Alpine Linux. The main reason for the transition is that Alpine Linux is very light, compact, has no redundant components and takes up little space.
Import of root certificate is implemented to build LDAPS connection when configuring one-way trust of LDAP-Forward type
It became possible to import root certificates to build a secure LDAPS connection when configuring one-way trust of the LDAP-Forward type. This setting allows the organization to safely integrate with an external directory service or other domain using encrypted authentication and authorization requests directed from one server to another.

MultiDirectory Enterprise: 2.4.0-01e with flexible role model
On September 23, 2025, MULTIFACTOR introduced an updated Enterprise version of the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service - Enterprise: 2.4.0-01e. With a flexible role model, users will be able to configure access rights, and the added group policies contribute to centralized and more convenient management of corporate resources. Another important change was checking for the last user in the Domain admins group.
A flexible role model allows administrators to create access rights hierarchies by allocating employee authority. User roles can be configured in detail according to their job responsibilities, which in turn will provide a high level of control over all workflows in the company.
Group policies allow organizations to centrally manage corporate resources. Instead of configuring each computer individually, administrators can use Group Policies to define uniform rules and settings for groups of users or computers.
Note that now group policies in MULTIDIRECTORY apply only to computers. Later, this feature will be available to users.
A check has been added for the last user in the Domain admins group. This feature prevents the last domain administrator from being accidentally deleted.
Previously, a MULTIDIRECTORY directory administrator might have accidentally removed himself or the last member of the Administrators group, thereby depriving IT professionals of access to directory management.
The system now automatically protects the domain administrators group from deleting its last member. If a single user remains in the group, then no employee, including the administrators themselves, will be able to exclude him from the group.
Logging events in Syslog
On August 12, 2025, MULTIFACTOR announced important updates in the Enterprise version of the Russian MULTIDIRECTORY directory service. The changes are aimed at improving the functional capabilities of the product, at improving the quality and efficiency of its operation.
One of the options is event logging in Syslog. Now MULTIDIRECTORY will send information about user actions and activity to Syslog - this will simplify the process of monitoring and security analysis, allow administrators to centrally collect logs from various systems and get a more complete picture of what is happening.
The second significant update of the Enterprise version: improved password policy.
Added a function to temporarily block login when incorrect password attempts are repeated. This is an additional security measure against a brute force attack. The blocking mechanism includes limiting the number of attempts to enter a password over a certain period of time. The administrator can configure the lock according to his own parameters: for example, 4 unsuccessful authentication attempts will make it impossible to log in within 15 minutes.
In the release of the Enterprise version, the MULTIDIRECTORY development team made a number of significant improvements that increase the level of security of corporate data. Key changes include the implementation of an event logging system using the Syslog protocol. This implementation will allow you to quickly track and analyze events taking place within our directory service. The second important change concerns the refinement of password protection mechanisms, which minimizes the likelihood of unauthorized access and the risk of sensitive information leakage. These updates will allow our customers to more effectively manage their information assets, ensuring sustainable business development and reliable data protection, "said Dmitry Makarov, Product Manager of MULTIDIRECTORY.

Ability to configure DNS conditional forwarding points
The company MULTIFACTOR on July 7, 2025 announced significant updates to the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service that relate to the Community version and Enterprise. The changes contribute to a seamless transition from (Active Directory AD) to Microsoft MULTIDIRECTORY (MD), improve the efficiency and security of internal management data IT infrastructures of any scale - which is especially important in an environment. import substitution
In the latest release of Community-version 2.2.0, the ability to expand the domain scheme and manage conditional forwarding zones (Conditional Forwards) for - has been added, and in DNSservers Enterprise-version 2.2.0e-01, the function of managing user sessions has appeared, two-way trust of the type "Realm" and one-way LDAP-Forward has been implemented, the restriction of password policies and much more has been expanded.
As of 2.2.0, users can extend the domain schema by creating new object attributes in the directory. For example, "Pass Number," "Responsibility Level financial ," "Equipment Location." This feature allows you to flexibly adapt the catalog to specific business requirements and generate more detailed reports based on an advanced data set.
MD has added the ability to configure DNS Conditional Forwarders. Thanks to this function, name resolution between trusted domains will be correct, and systems in one domain will be able to find resources (servers, services) in another domain by their DNS names. Correct DNS name resolution is an important prerequisite for the successful operation of authentication mechanisms (Kerberos) and the execution of directory requests (LDAP) between trusted domains.
Now MULTIDIRECTORY (MD) supports two-way trust relationships such as "Realm" and one-way "LDAP-Forward" - these functions contribute to the correct operation of trust between domains, as well as provide reliable authentication and authorization.
To improve and optimize the work with the MULTIDIRECTORY directory, the function of managing user sessions was implemented. The system administrator will be able to monitor active connections using various protocols (LDAP, HTTP), more efficiently monitor internal processes in the directory service, and detect suspicious activities in time.
To improve the security of the MULTIDIRECTORY directory service, the password policy restrictions were extended. Now there are stricter rules regarding the complexity, length and validity of passwords, as well as their reuse.
It is especially worth noting the function of prohibiting the use of certain passwords. Any company can generate a list of passwords that cannot be used. This is done so that users cannot establish simple or merged passwords on the Internet.
We are constantly improving our product, adding new features to it. Our goal is to make sure that MULTIDIRECTORY does not just meet the needs of the market, but is ahead of them, sets a new vector of development for domestic IT products, "said Dmitry Makarov, head of the MULTIDIRECTORY product.

MultiDirectory 2.1.0 with 2FA in Kerberos and ByPass mode
The company MULTIFACTOR has released an update to the MultiDirectory directory service. The company announced this on February 12, 2025. In this version is now available integration with (two-factor authentication 2FA) in Kerberos. This will ensure reliable user authentication and authorization of access to certain resources. Also, MultiDirectory developers have added flexible settings for network security policies and ByPass mode. To get started with version 2.1.0, you need to download " file docker-compose.yml" and perform a number of actions described in the instructions.
Version 2.1.0 of MultiDirectory includes several key improvements and enhancements. One of the important additions is the function of flexible configuration of network security policies.
The administrator can choose for which protocol the security policy will apply, and can flexibly configure 2FA to apply to a specific security group:
- HTTP (login to the administrator's Web interface);
- LDAP (LDAP Interface Authentication Bind Requests)
- Kerberos (TGT requests).
This version of the product supports 2FA in Kerberos. In MultiDirectory, you can confirm receipt of a TGT ticket using Push notifications. This significantly increases the security of access to corporate resources, since even if the password is compromised, an attacker will not be able to gain access without confirming the verification of the second factor. It is important to note that the implementation of 2FA in MultiDirectory does not require any changes or additional settings from client applications. All logic for checking and processing push notifications is fully executed on the server. This simplifies the process of deploying and maintaining the system, minimizing the risk of errors and additional integration costs with existing applications, - commented Dmitry Makarov, Product Manager of MultiDirectory.
In addition, ByPass mode appeared in MultiDirectory. The developers of the MULTIFACTOR system have provided various scenarios in which the MULTIFACTOR cloud service may be temporarily unavailable. In such situations, the system automatically enters ByPass mode, which provides continuous user access to resources in critical situations. The MultiDirectory directory service checks not only network availability, but also the health of the MULTIFACTOR two-factor authentication system.
Also:
- Changed the name of the Keytab file to the common krb5.keytab
- Fixed domain and email validation, added support for hyphen and numbers
- Fixed certificate message error
- Added the ability to clear keys in the menu "Connection to MULTIFACTOR"
