2024: Transition to OMK control

In mid-January 2024, it became known about the transfer of the Oskol Metallurgical Engineering Plant (OZMM) to the ownership of Vyksa Metallurgical Plant JSC, which is part of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK). The perimeter of the transaction included 95.48% of the shares of the Belgorod enterprise.

The fact that OZMM came under the control of OMK, Interfax reports with reference to the published list of affiliates as of December 31, 2023. The value of the deal could have exceeded, the agency said. In the fall of 2023, at that time, the owner of a 95.48% stake in OZMM JSC Oleg Klyuka announced his intention to sell his stake to a third party. He sent a notice to the plant of his intention to alienate 26,399,361 shares belonging to him with a face value of 10 rubles each at a price of 22.9 rubles apiece. Thus, the deal was estimated at 604,545,4 thousand rubles, the newspaper recalls.

According to industrial expert Leonid Khazanov, the purchase of OZMM for OMK is useful primarily in terms of providing technological units at their metallurgical plants with the necessary spare parts.

It is no secret that over the past two decades, mainly foreign equipment has been installed at domestic metallurgical plants and factories, but after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, Western engineering companies began to leave our country and stop cooperation with Russian clients. Therefore, OMK could well be confronted with a lack of foreign components, analogues of which can be developed by reverse engineering and then their production can be established at OZMM: after all, it specializes in the manufacture of spare parts for metallurgical enterprises, the expert said in a conversation with RBC Chernozemye[1]
