2024: The beginning of the development of domestic modules for the operation of navigation equipment

The Element Group of Companies has begun developing domestic modules for the operation of navigation equipment for consumers of global satellite navigation systems (NAP GNSS) in order to replace imported analogues with them in the near future. About this GC "Element" reported on January 19, 2024.

Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), which include the Russian GLONASS system and international GPS, are designed to determine the location of ground, water and air objects. In particular, GNSS provide automotive and aviation navigation, help track the movement of goods on roads and railways, are involved in shipping, and are also necessary for accurate land delimitation and monitoring of mining.

GNSSs consist of three levels: satellites in Earth orbit, ground stations that adjust their movement, and GNSS modules in consumer navigation equipment. GNSS development modules of the Element Group of Companies will replace foreign analogues whose manufacturers have left the market. RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The Moscow Research Institute of Microelectronic Equipment "Progress," which is part of the "Element" group of companies, plans to develop a domestic geodetic class NAP by the end of 2024. To enter the market in a short time, at the first stage, imported elements will be used in production, which will be replaced by domestic ones in the future.

In addition to equipment, Progress NIIMA will also develop software capable of specifying the location using special navigation signal processing algorithms. Until now, such software solutions have been supplied mainly by foreign vendors, but by mid-2024 they will be able to replace the development of Progress NIIM.
