In VTB Bank the corporate data warehouse more than 2.6 Tb is created

In VTB Bank the corporate data warehouse which is the central komponenty IT strategy is created. A main objective of the project - ensuring effective management of bank in the conditions of the permanent growth of amounts of data in the presence of a large number of branches and the different automated banking and accounting systems. A contractor of the project is the RDTECH company.

The volume of storage exceeded 2.6 Tb, the volume of monthly loaded data is more than 100 GB, the number of users - over 500, a scope – more than 25 information systems of Bank and 59 Branches, the volume of technical documentation of the project – more than 100 documents.

As the platform for project implementation VTB selected the system of the multidimensional analysis of financial information of Oracle Financial Services Applications (OFSA). The new storage uses a full range of functionality of the integrated complex of Oracle for acceptance support the solution in financial institutions.

The data warehouse of VTB is created from 2007 to 2010 on the basis of all functionality of an analytical bank complex of Oracle. A contractor of the project is the RDTECH company.

Creation of uniform information storage allows VTB:

• increase efficiency of the made management decisions;
• increase efficiency of analytical activity of bank;
• reduce operating expenses on information and analytical activity and its support;
• it is effective to solve problems of VTB Group.

Creation of storage began with the pilot project providing the system deployment at the central office and allowing to create both the internal, and external (obligatory) reporting for the Central Bank of the Bank of Russia, the tool of the analysis of profitability and the modules "Reporting of the Central Bank" and "Transformation of IFRS".

Implementation of central module of Oracle Financial Services Applications - a uniform data model of Financial Data Manager which is responsible for collecting, storage, completeness and consistency of information arriving from the different systems sources of bank became a key stage of the project. Further development of the project provided accumulation of the main functionality of OFSA with connection to storage of the numerous systems sources.

On the basis of the built data warehouse a number of the major problems of banking activity is solved: the works directed to creation of a system of the consolidated statements of VTB are carried out; are implemented the system of collecting and data scrubbing from data sources of Parent Organization and Bank branches; subsystems of FSA, the management reporting obligatory for the reporting of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation are implemented; system of collecting of market quotations (SCMQ); functional module "Loan portfolio"; risk management system on the basis of OFSA Risk Manager.

In addition to creation of large-scale reporting system in VTB Bank work on quality improvement of data in storage and data sources due to implementation of the module of quality of data was carried out. For data protection of storage and differentiation of access rights to them, the modules of information security constructed on the products Oracle Identity Manager and Oracle Audit Vault were implemented.

On project deliverables decision making processes in bank are brought to new level - labor costs are reduced by preparation of the reporting, the efficiency of formation of the management reporting is increased. Implementation of support of financial risk management gives the chance to the management of bank to estimate operational and financial risks according to scenarios, to control execution of the set limits of financial transactions, to optimize earning assets.
