Content

In Frito Ley Manufacturing company the project of automation of sales planning based on SAP solutions is complete.

Project Results

The internal assessment of quantitative advantages of automation after the implementing solution SAP BW made by department of demand planning of the company showed increase in medium accuracy of forecasts for 5%.

To the project

Prior to the beginning of the project of automation, planning process was performed in Microsoft Excel that meant difficulties in control of accomplishment, consolidation of plans and creation of the reporting, owing to separation of data storage, a zatrudnennost of the complex analysis, use of different formats and interfaces of creation of plans at users and also high influence of a human factor.

Solution

The company management of Frito Ley realized importance of the reliable tool for ensuring effective sales process in the company. A choice was made for benefit of SAP solutions.

Tasks

Creation of the system providing planning process of demand of finished goods with the possibility of forecasting, the developed process of iterative conversion, approval of data integrated with the available system of collecting of the actual information based on SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) became a project objective of implementation. The core of schedule system and forecasting was decided to construct on the SAP Integrated Planning platform (SAP IP). As tools of development of analytical reports and data visualization the SAP product Business Explorer Suite (BEx) was selected.

The uniform point of entry in SAP systems selected the SAP solution Enterprise Portal. The contractor of the project - SAPRUN Group company.

Implementation

The project of creation IT-system was separated into two phases:

  • Development and start in operation of functionality of ensuring process of creation and approval of forecasts
  • Development and start in operation of the functionality providing accounting of the events and activities influencing the forecast.

The beginning of the project was in March, 2009. In seven months, in September, 2009, the 1st phase is successfully complete.

Main results

At the moment the project is fully completed and a system is actively used.

System implementation led to reduction of risk of failure to meet time constraints of providing and quality standard of the status of preparation of forecasts, decrease in time of reporting and integration of forecasting into uniform SAP infrastructure. Semi-annual experience of use of a system confirmed its high resource of upgrade regarding process automation that will be used at development of a system in general.

Among the qualitative advantages got at system implementation the main are:

  • receiving transparent, controlled, and, as a result, more predictable planning process.
  • automation allowed to remove a routine part of work from users
  • ensuring the centralized data storage in total with available tools of creation of the reporting significantly simplified the procedure of preparation of output forms
  • the internal assessment of quantitative advantages of automation made by department of demand planning of the company showed increase in medium accuracy of forecasts for 5%.
