The Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Magadan Region is an executive body and is responsible for implementing a large range of tasks related to the development of the information society and the formation of e-government, including improving the quality of the public administration system and executive authorities of the Magadan Region, centralizing planning and management, creating and effective use of information and communication technologies.

Ensuring the protection of information from unauthorized access and leakage is one of the key tasks of the ministry, which is solved by using and maintaining integrated information security systems in the current state. Thus, as part of the project to modernize the firewall system of the regional network, it was necessary to ensure controlled access of municipal executive bodies to electronic services of the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Magadan Region and Internet channels, to introduce a fault-tolerant cluster of firewalls with URL filtering function.

At the project planning stage, the specialists of Khabeko-Partner LLC analyzed the customer's needs, studied the market for domestic developments in the field of network security, compared the proposals that most fully met the customer's requirements. In particular, the solution should have had:

• full-fledged NGFW functionality;
• FSTEC ITU class 4 certificate;
• Operating as a high-availability cluster
• Performance;
• enhanced monitoring and reporting functions;
• dedicated log server;
• regular updates and technical support.

The project executor had to be highly qualified to implement the ITU cluster into the customer's existing network infrastructure, data center infrastructure with minimal downtime, as well as configure rules and policies for users' access to internal services and the Internet.

The pilot project carried out by the specialists of our company showed the full compliance of the UserGate firewall with all the requirements of the customer. In addition, according to the results of our study, the solution from UserGate had an optimal combination of price and technical characteristics, - commented Alexander Zakharov, General Director of Khabeko-Partner LLC.

Two UserGate E3000 were installed at the DPC site of the ministry, the high-availability cluster operating mode was configured, a fault-tolerant connection to the regional network, the DPC network and Internet channels was made, filtering and routing rules for network traffic, user access policies to internal services and the Internet were configured. All work was carried out with minimal equipment downtime.
