2024: Announcement of dynamic QR code generation service

On March 11, 2024, the company Fitbeis"" announced the development of a dynamic generation service QR codes for the client. mobile application fitness clubs This decision will become an alternative to biometric ones, access control systems which have become unprofitable due to the tightening of legislation on to storage such. data This functionality is available to Fitbays customers from March 2024.

Mobile application for customers of fitness clubs

According to the company, in mid-2023, 41% of fitness clubs in Russia introduced biometric access control systems (MCDS), a survey by the Association of Fitness Industry Operators showed. This allowed them to ensure quick identification of clients without the participation of administrators.

However, in June 2023, federal law No. 572-FZ entered into force, which obliged all state and commercial organizations to transfer biometric data to the Unified Biometric System (GIS EBS) or use the services of accredited companies to store them. This means that fitness clubs that collected customers' biometric data can no longer store them and process them on their own. They will be forced to pay for storing data to third-party organizations, according to preliminary estimates, on average from one to four million rubles a year. With the low margins of the fitness business, this can be a serious financial burden for many market players.

Another problem is that the obligation to transfer biometric data to the EBS or accredited organizations has been introduced by law, but the mechanism for implementing this requirement has not been worked out - fitness clubs do not understand who and what needs to be paid for.

With the adoption of the law on biometric data, all market participants found themselves in a difficult situation, from which there are three ways out: to independently understand the nuances of the introduced rules and pay third-party organizations for storing biometric data, abandon the established MCDS and return administrators or look for an alternative solution for organizing the passage of customers to the club.

Now in the Fitbays client mobile application you can use a dynamic QR code for contactless access to the fitness club. The QR code is available for 3-5 seconds, which excludes the possibility of transferring it to third parties. It is important that such an access system can be organized on existing equipment for reading biometric data: a QR code is attached to the same screen that previously identified customers by face. Fitbays services are integrated with the most popular biometric access control systems used in the fitness industry as of March 2024 - AviTech and Pocket Key. In the near future, the opportunity to use a dynamic QR code will appear on another MCDS - Sigur. This functionality is available to customers of the Fitbays ecosystem of digital services for free within the test period.

An additional feature of the Fitbays solution is the ability to use the dynamic QR code offline when communication is not available on the user's mobile device. In addition, fulfilling the MCDS requirements, the company's specialists have developed an encryption algorithm. It encrypts the sequence of digits on the user's mobile phone side and decrypts on the company's server side.

So that the club's clients cannot transfer access to their account, and therefore the QR code, to other people, the Fitbays mobile application is tied to a specific device. The fitness club may limit the possibility of changing devices within a certain period (for example, no more than once a month), and if the limit is exceeded, the client will be forced to contact the club managers.

Access control systems are usually installed by large fitness clubs. As of March 2024, they make up 8% of our customers. Thanks to this ability to identify by dynamic QR code and other solutions aimed at large market players, we expect to increase their share in our portfolio to 20%. Dynamic QR codes at the beginning of 2024 were tested in several fitness clubs. Based on feedback from them, we finalized the solution, and in March 2024 we launched it for all customers.
