2024: TECNO PolarAce Image Technology Announcement

On February 27, 2024, TECNO introduced TECNO PolarAce image processing technology. It the first such TECNO technology based on processor Sony CXD5622GG image processing. PolarAce supports shooting full-screen video simultaneously in, 4K HDR and with smart noise cancellation, and also provides HDR video playback up to 4K/30 frames per second. TECNO PolarAce technology will be available smartphone TECNO CAMON in 30 Premier in 5G the second quarter of 2024.

TECNO PolarAce

According to the company, TECNO PolarAce is powered by four key technologies: processor Sony CXD5622GG image processing based on floating point calculations, Sony LYTIA image sensors; multi-tone imaging technology TECNO Universal Tone, as well as visualization TECNO technology.

Despite all the advances in mobile photography technology, traditional processors for February 2024 lack the processing power necessary to create high-quality video. Modern solutions still do not allow smooth, crisp personnel at night and have limited full-screen HDR capabilities. TECNO PolarAce uses artificial intelligence to address these and other common issues and meet the ever-increasing demands of today's users.

The Sony CXD5622GG processor performs artificial noise cancellation and image quality optimization on each video frame. Clarity of dynamic personnel, contrast, recovery of accurate shades of colors and general optimization of video quality even when shooting in dark conditions. Advanced processor capabilities are provided by FP16 floating point finite calculations, which, compared to standard integer operations, give a jump in processor processing power that reaches 4.6 TFLOPS @ FP16.

The development of TECNO PolarAce would also be impossible without a collaboration with Sony LYTIA, whose CMOS sensors are designed specifically to optimize mobile shooting capabilities.

The processor is equipped with four engines for natural color reproduction and detail even in extreme shooting conditions: NeuroNR Turbo for noise cancellation in RAW mode, NeuroColor Turbo for color optimization, NeuroHDR Turbo for optimized mobile video quality, and NeuroFPS Turbo for overall video smoothness for long-term shooting. Thanks to these four optimized engines, the processor provides HDR video shooting at 4K/30 frames per second with AI noise cancellation, as well as 4K night shooting.

The processor changes the YUV color range to RAW format using processing technology to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio by 30.3 dB. This allows TECNO PolarAce to provide almost lossless image quality. The processor also provides an optimal energy efficiency at a lower power consumption when shooting in 4K format at 30 frames per second.

TECNO PolarAce

TECNO PolarAce optimizes color reproduction thanks to TECNO Universal Tone technology, which was introduced in October 2023. Universal Tone is an AI-based mobile image processing technology to optimize texture and color transmission, skin as well as other features of various nationalities around the world. The developed technology was optimized thanks to research and development in collaboration with scientists colorists from various universities around the world, and recently collected and the analyzed data is integrated into the Universal Tone artificial intelligence system. TECNO PolarAce is complemented by functions based on artificial intelligence. The technology is equipped with a built-in portrait module AIGC (AI Generated-Content), which allows users to generate images in any setting without downloading a third-party application. In addition, TECNO's AI One Click Erase uses artificial intelligence technology, which allows you to remove unnecessary objects in a photo in one move.

TECNO PolarAce image processing system will be available in the TECNO CAMON 30 Premier 5G smartphone, which is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2024.

The CAMON 30 Premier 5G design is inspired by traditional full-frame cameras. The lens is framed by an aluminum ring with a grooved edge, and the multifunctional red indicator lights up when shooting video, counts down before taking photos, and also serves as a charging indicator. If desired by the user, the indicator can be turned off.

CAMON 30 Premier 5G is equipped with a periscope telephoto lens with an equivalent focal length of 70mm, allowing you to take macro pictures, and a hybrid 60x zoom. The CAMON 30 Premier 5G telephoto lens is capable of transmitting natural light and shadow without blurring or trimming the frame, and also reduces noise when shooting at night.

The CAMON 30 Premier 5G also features a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate 5G processor. The processor includes eight cores and a dual-core connection for data transfer up to 21.258 Gb/s. Arm Mali-G610 MC6 and Imagiq 785 AI GPUs with a maximum performance of 3.1 GHz optimize the image processing process.

The CAMON 30 Premier 5G also features a 1.5K-resolution LTPO screen, 1400 nits peak brightness and million colors. Thanks to LTPO technology, the smartphone has reduced power consumption and image stability.
