2024: Product Announcement
On March 29, 2024, it became known that Russian specialists from the Don State Technical University developed a game console called PlaySpace. It is considered as a domestic alternative to Sony PlayStation.
According to News the newspaper "," the gadget is a small form factor computer made on an Intel Atom X5 processor. The amount of RAM is 4 GB, and the built-in flash drive is designed to store 64 GB of data. There are wireless Bluetooth Wi-Fi and (2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands) adapters, and HDMI is used to display images on a monitor or TV. It is used as a software platform operating system of its own design.
Project participants say that a feature of PlaySpace is the original control system. It is not necessary to use a gamepad to interact with a game console - just connect your smartphone via Bluetooth. The virtual joystick is implemented using a mobile application available for devices running Android and iOS. Thus, the user does not need any additional controllers, which, according to the creators of PlaySpace, "often break down and become unusable."
Maxim Tagirov, head of the support department for technological teams and entrepreneurs of ANO Platform NTI, notes that such projects are relevant for Russia. According to him, for the development of the industry, it is necessary to assist in the withdrawal of products to international markets, and primarily to the markets of the BRICS countries. In addition, a legal framework is needed to protect intellectual property rights. It is assumed that PlaySpace will go on sale at an estimated price of 47 thousand rubles (as of the end of March 2024).[1]
