Education

Maria Shalyagina graduated from the Medical Faculty of Ulyanovsk State University (UlSU) with a degree in Medical Medicine, underwent training in clinical residency with a degree in Pediatrics.

In 2013, she underwent professional retraining in the specialty "Organization of Health and Public Health" at the University.

Career

2010-2019

In 2010, she got a job as a trainee doctor in the children's clinic No. 4 in Ulyanovsk.

In 2011, she continued to work as a district pediatrician, and in 2012-2014. held the position of deputy chief physician for medical affairs.

In 2017, she was appointed head of the department for clinical and expert work.

In 2019, she was appointed deputy chief physician for organizational and methodological work of the Children's City Clinical Hospital in Ulyanovsk.

2021-2022

In March 2021, she began acting as the chief physician of the children's city clinical hospital in the city of Ulyanovsk. And in May 2022 he was appointed chief physician of this hospital.

2024: Appointment as Head of the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk Region

At the end of March 2024, Maria Shalyagina was appointed head of the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk Region. She replaced Olesya Kolotik-Kameneva.

According to the publication 73online.ru, citing sources in the government of the Ulyanovsk region, Kolotik-Kameneva resigned as Minister of Health of the region on the basis of a personal statement, but the governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexei Russkikh demanded to vacate the post.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, at the end of March 2024, Olesya Kolotik-Kameneva reported on the work of the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk Region at the end of 2023. Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk region criticized the department for the lack of doctors in the region and high accounts payable of 680 million rubles.
