Biography
1994-2013
In 1994, together with his brother Oleg, Igor Yakovlev headed the Eldorado company. He also owned the Eldorado chain of household appliances in Ukraine.
By 2003, Eldorado was the largest chain in Russia with 125 franchise stores (out of 320). The network's turnover in 2002 amounted to $800 million, $100 million of which was brought by franchisees.
In 2008, he sold the Russian Eldorado to a Czech group. PPF First, a loan of $500 million was received secured by 51% of the Cypriot company Fasipero, which manages the retail network. Then the remaining shares of the company, as well as retail real estate of the retailer and Yakovlev's own development projects (Advantage Group (ADG) and Realesteitdevelopment), transferred to PPF.
In 2013, he sold 100% of the Ukrainian Eldorado.
After the sale of Eldorado, Yakovlev remained a share in the Kazakh network of household appliances and electronics Sulpak. The businessman received an option to buy 51% of this company in 2006.
On December 6, 2008, Yakovlev acquired a 50% stake in the Anji football club. January 17, 2011 sold his stake in FC Anji to Suleyman Kerimov.
2015
After the sale of Eldorado, Yakovlev began to develop the Kari network on the same principles as Eldorado once did. He built the economy of the low-cost airline, and since 2015 the network has begun selling the franchise.
2024: Net worth - $1.4 billion
By the beginning of April 2024, Igor Yakovlev's fortune is $1.4 billion. This assessment was given by Forbes magazine. He noted that the founder of Eldorado returned to the rating of dollar billionaires after 16 years.
In total, in 2024, 125 Russian billionaires were included in the rating of the largest people on the planet, 15 more people than in 2023. The total fortune of Russian billionaires, despite the increase in their number, increased from $505 billion to $576.8 billion.[1]
