2024: Start of mass production

In early April 2024, the Simbirsk Design Bureau, created in the Ulyanovsk Region, announced the start of mass production of fully Russian Piranya-10 unmanned aerial vehicles. These drones are successfully used in the area of a special operation, including to destroy ground equipment.

Piranha-10 refers to drones of the FPV (First Person View) type: the device is equipped with a camera, the image from which is broadcast to a remote operator. The weight of the drone, along with the battery pack, is approximately 1.94 kg, and the weight of the payload varies from 2 to 4.5 kg. The flight range reaches 15 km, the maximum speed is 140 km/h.

The start of serial production of the Piranha-10 drone

According to the developers, the architecture of the Piranha-10 drone provides the ability to flexibly adjust to the needs of the customer. A total of 64 configurations are available. The UAV, in particular, can be equipped with a night vision camera, a thermal imaging camera, a reset system and a rotary camera. Thus, a standard drone is capable of three main tasks: one-way flight (kamikaze), homecoming flight (with a jettison system), and reconnaissance. The drone can hit ground equipment, the cost of which is hundreds of times higher than the cost of the drone itself, as well as dugouts, trenches and enemy supply facilities.

According to TASS, referring to information received from the Simbirsk Design Bureau, the production of Piranha-10 devices is completely localized in Russia. Output reaches several hundred units per day.
