It became known about the creation in Russia of a prosthetic arm intended for children aged three to seven years

According to the developers, the prosthesis is addressed to children with a congenital malformation of the hand or when it is amputated. The development can be used to actively grip, hold objects and perform various movements involving fine motor skills. The prosthesis is actuated by flexing the arm in the elbow. In this case, the cable is tensioned, which unclamps parts of the nozzle. The use of an active nozzle by a child allows you to keep your muscles in good shape and provides easier adaptation in the future to any other type of prosthesis, including bionic, explained in Rostec.

The state corporation added that this prosthesis has no analogues on the Russian market, since it has an author's design, uses 3D printing technologies and modern methods of metal processing.

We managed to take into account all the needs of small patients and combine functionality and attractiveness in one design. The result is an ergonomic model weighing only 88 grams. Our prosthesis looks like a toy. The structure is made in the form of a toucan with a bright beak. We hope that the prosthesis will become an indispensable assistant for children, "said Eduard Yanushenko, general director of MPO Metalist.
