2024: Development of the optimal storage complex option

On April 19, 2024, AXELOT announced the development of an optimal version of the updated warehouse complex for BAYERN. AXELOT's warehouse development concept was based on the expansion of warehouse space and optimization of business processes due to increased sales and the launch of an updated filling line in 2024.

Axelot has developed an optimal version of the warehouse complex for Bavaria

As reported, LLC GC PD "BAVARIA" is engaged in the production sale of beer and soft drinks and is one of the industry leaders in the territory. North Caucasus Federal District As of April 2024, the company's assortment includes live beer, sweet carbonated drinks, cold tea, juice-containing drinks, natural kvass, mineral medical and canteen and drinking spring water. The geography of sales includes both territory and Russia others:,,, countries,, Belarus,,,, and Kazakhstan Azerbaijan Uzbekistan Armenia Kenya others. Somalia Vietnam

To successfully conduct business, the company has created all the necessary infrastructure - its own production, warehouses for raw materials and materials, warehouses for finished products. At the same time, production with warehouses is in the same location, which optimizes transportation between them. The company is equipped with technological equipment of well-known companies such as KHS, GEA, Holvrieka, Sacmi, Krones, Wagdi, Alfa Laval, Rentaig.

The product line is constantly growing, sales are increasing, and the need for high-quality storage and warehousing is also growing. In this regard, the management of BAVARIA decided to expand the warehouse with the involvement of specialists in the field of creating a modern logistics infrastructure for its design - the company AXELOT.

AXELOT experts analyzed the work of existing warehouses: they studied the topology, cargo turnover, equipment used, equipment and information system:

  • there is no full address storage;
  • there is a shortage of space;
  • due to parasitic operations of movement between warehouses, the mileage of equipment increases disproportionately to the growth of cargo turnover;
  • automation is partially present in the warehouse, the main part of warehouse processes is implemented on the basis of paper-based tasks;
  • shuttle storage system is provided for a part of cargo traffic, in particular, in a warehouse intended for raw materials and materials. In the case of identified requirements for warehouse processes, this is not the most effective technology both in terms of storage capacity and in terms of sampling speed. Box and unit sampling, multiparty and residual shelf life sampling used in the warehouse do not allow optimally placing existing products in shuttle racks. With this use, the shuttle system loses to other systems in the selection speed.

Further, the project team developed the concept of the warehouse complex, where the peculiarities of the Customer's business processes were taken into account.

Since the Client plans to transfer part of the existing storage capacity for storage of raw materials and materials, the project was based on the expansion of storage space for an increasing flow of goods due to the construction of warehouses. It was also planned to optimize the processes of storage and processing of finished products. It was decided that the project will contain order processing technology in three warehouses.

As of April 2024, the customer has 4 warehouses: "Shattlovy warehouse" - initially a warehouse of raw materials and materials, an address warehouse with a front system, a Kegov warehouse with floor stacking storage and "Hangar No. 8" - a warehouse with floor storage for box sampling. Of the existing warehouses, only the Addressable warehouse and the Kegov warehouse are planned to be used in the future. The capacity of the existing GP warehouse is 11,600 paletomests, and it has already been exhausted. To solve the priority tasks of storing finished products at the warehouse under construction, the usual shuttle system is planned. It will serve to increase the total production and warehouse capacity and will become a "buffer" for production in the near future. This will allow the company to painlessly move to a more efficient device for storing and processing goods.

In 2025, it is planned to launch an updated filling line, which will create an acute shortage of storage places. Therefore, in 2025 it is planned to build a large warehouse next to the existing and newly opened production.

As a result, in the target period, 4 warehouses will operate to provide the required capacity - 2 old and 2 under construction:

  • The Kegov warehouse with floor stacking storage will be designed to ship kegov to all types of consignees;
  • Address warehouse with front racks - for shipment of some orders to distributors;
  • Shuttle warehouse for 1000 sq. m. And 2,800 paletomests - for temporary storage of goods after production and partial shipment by pallets;
  • A warehouse with a front storage system of 5600 square meters. m. And 8100 pallet rooms ("Greenhouse warehouse") - for storing finished products and picking orders for network and regional customers.

During the work, the working group for the Teplitsa warehouse worked out two concepts for the development of the warehouse with front racks: using wide-passage and narrow-passage technologies. For each of the presented options, a detailed calculation of capital and operating costs is given.

The customer has chosen a concept that includes the use of front racks with wide-passage cargo processing technology, since it is more versatile and will make it possible to implement processing of commodity flow with minimal investments, taking into account target parameters that take into account the growing needs of the business.

Within the framework of the project, AXELOT specialists carried out a detailed study of the chosen concept, taking into account the approved target model of cargo traffic and reserves. The customer was directly involved at each stage of the work - from discussing hypotheses to choosing the type of racks.

AXELOT specialists designed the final version taking into account the complex development spot. This means that it was necessary not only to provide storage capacity, but also to think about the organization of transport flows. Thanks to the optimal location of the warehouse on the development spot, it was possible to plan a sufficient number of gates for various types of vehicles, a convenient maneuvering platform of the necessary dimensions was designed, access roads were provided taking into account the location automobile of roads, internal and external communication between warehouses was provided, basic directions for all goods flows were thought out.

The Client received a detailed plan indicating the locations of the structures, process areas, layout of the rack systems. The warehouse topology has been modernized - the optimal capacities of storage areas have been calculated: acceptance, storage, selection, shipment, their placement and interconnection have been thought out. The chosen storage principle will provide access to any batch of goods, taking into account the FEFO principles and shelf life restrictions. The required number of personnel, lifting and transportation equipment, equipment for WMS is determined.

The project team took into account the fact that the warehouse complex is located in a location where recruitment is difficult. The customer needs to automate warehouse processes in such a way as to minimize the role of employees in the execution of work tasks. To solve this problem, AXELOT specialists worked out the algorithms for performing warehouse operations taking into account the capabilities of modern WMS systems, and also formed a list of functional requirements for the warehouse management system.

The implementation of the technological project carried out by AXELOT specialists will allow BAVARIA to achieve the required storage capacity in accordance with the planned production growth, as well as optimize the performance indicators of the company's warehouse in accordance with the target values.
