2024: Use in the RWT area

On April 8, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian sappers in the special operation zone began to use a robot called the Stalker, which is capable of destroying anti-tank mines. The car is used by servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (MPC of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation).

The mine clearance complex is a remotely controlled tracked vehicle weighing about 30 tons. On this robot, a bike trawl is mounted, which allows you to make a continuous passage in minefields containing anti-personnel and anti-tank mines installed in the ground to a depth of 30 cm.

It is known that the machine is equipped with a hydrostatic transmission and a 540 horsepower engine. Control is carried out remotely using a special remote control: in this case, the operator can be from the robot at a distance of up to 1 km. The image is transmitted from four video cameras on board the Stalker, which allows monitoring the space around the machine.

In addition, Russian sappers received other new demining equipment. These include the Scorpion remote-controlled robotic demining complex, the Patrol-IV special vehicle, and the BZK special ballistic protective suit used to protect military personnel from mine fragments and shells. At the same time, the work of engineering units is complicated by the constant danger of the enemy using reconnaissance and strike drones, for the protection of which the constant duty of mobile anti-UAV groups armed with special anti-drone and smoothbore guns is organized.[1]
