2024: Moving Infrastructure to VK Cloud

Burger King has moved the data storage and processing infrastructure to the VK Cloud. VK Tech announced this on June 10, 2024. Cloud platform services, including the product of the Russian vendor Arenadata - Arenadata DB, made it possible to optimize work with arrays of information from disparate systems and develop two projects based on AI technologies - "Digital Guest" and "Digital Restaurant," due to which the time for calculating the optimal number of people on shift decreased from 14 days to three hours. VK Cloud tools and technologies helped Burger King accelerate business processes, improve the reliability of the company's digital products.

As of June 2024, more than 800 applications were transferred to DWH, which made it possible to relieve the load on data processing from source systems. This increased their fault tolerance, ensured continuity of business processes and reduced the time to receive analytical reporting from several days to several hours.

Almost any large company on the market is faced with the task of switching to a data-driven approach, which is often hindered by the internal zoo of IT systems. The move to the cloud allowed the Burger King brand to create an infrastructure that scales to the needs of the company and does not require capital expenditures. A uniform approach to working with data simplifies the development of new services, including solutions based on AI technologies - for example, recommendation systems and predictive analytics. The plans include the launch of a centralized machine learning platform and a data lake on this foundation, "said Dmitry Lazarenko, product director of VK Cloud and business leader of the SaaS VK Tech segment.

Data, its analysis and efficient use are driving the development of modern business, improving and optimizing existing business models and communication with the target audience. Thanks to a strategic technological partnership with VK Cloud and Arenadata, we were able to lay the foundation for the transition to the Data Driven approach in a short time: to create a centralized corporate data warehouse (DWH) and get a noticeable increase in efficiency already in the first months of the project, "Burger King, Alexander Kuliev, told CDO.

Burger King's installation in the VK Cloud is one of the largest cloud PaaS installations in Russia. The results of the project already confirm its success. Including because the use of Arenadata DB in the VK Cloud gave Burger King's team the opportunity to significantly reduce the time and labor required to launch the solution, focusing instead on the business logic of storage, "said Yury Rubtsov, director of the Arenadata department for retail, FMCG and pharmaceutical companies.

Centralized enterprise storage has allowed you to standardize your approach to working with information arrays for your company's IT systems and applications, as well as improve the quality of business data. Thanks to this, on the basis of DWH and VK Cloud services, Burger King launched two projects using AI technologies: "Digital Restaurant" and "Digital Guest."

"Digital Restaurant" allows you to optimize the process of purchasing products for the chain's restaurants and personalize the recommendations in the menu, taking into account the preferences of the guests of each restaurant. The project helps to increase the profitability of individual points by reducing costs and increasing sales efficiency. "Digital Restaurant" also automates decision-making about the number of shift employees at each point.

With the Digital Guest project, Burger King can model customer behavior and personalize marketing activities. Analytical and recommendation systems invite users to add relevant goods to orders by personalizing marketing communications. This improves the efficiency of interaction with clients: guests, users of the application and the site.
