2024: Drone Manufacturing Center Launch

On June 21, 2024, it became known that the Avangard research and production center for the production of unmanned aircraft systems (ALS) began work in the Yaroslavl region. 2 billion rubles were allocated for the implementation of the project.

Created on behalf of Governor Mikhail Evraev, the center will specialize in the creation and production of drones for various applications. Mikhail Evraev stressed that the Yaroslavl region was one of the first in Russia to join the implementation of the national project for the development of unmanned aircraft systems, which began to operate in early 2024. The region has the necessary production, educational and personnel resources for the development of unmanned aircraft.

The Minister of Social Communications and Scientific and Technological Development of the Yaroslavl Region Dmitry Yunusov noted that the center will fulfill regional orders, support the production of components, provide infrastructure and solve security problems. On its basis, competitions on programming and control of drones will be held, as well as training events for schoolchildren and students.

The center was headed by Ivan Dolgov, Development Director of the P.A. Solovyov. He said that one of the key tasks is the consolidation of industrial partners and the formation of a sustainable pool of residents of the center. In the near future, it is also planned to launch a single information portal to coordinate all program participants.

As Kommersant writes, the regional program "Development of Unmanned Aircraft in the Yaroslavl Region" was approved until 2030 and aims to create favorable conditions for increasing demand for domestic unmanned aircraft systems, as well as for the development of effective design and production of components. The responsible executor of the program is the regional ministry of social communications and development of non-profit organizations, as well as leading universities in the region, such as YarSU named after Demidov, YAGTU, RGATU named after Solovyov and YAGPU named after Ushinsky.[1]
