2024: Transfer of NPP operation support system to Russian software from IBM solution
Rosenergoatom Concern, part of the electricity division of Rosatom State Corporation, has launched a project to transfer the NPP operation support system from imported software to the Russian Axiom platform. This became known at the end of June 2024.
The project provides for import substitution of a single installation of the system, including information systems of the Operational Dispatch Complex of the Crisis Center and an automated inspection bypass system. The system is operated at five pilot nuclear power plants in Russia: Balakovskaya, Beloyarskaya, Kola, Rostov and Smolensk.
Oleg Shalnov, Director of the IT Project Management and Integration Department of Rosenergoatom Concern, noted that the similarity of Axiom and IBM Maximo methodologies and architectures will facilitate the transition for NPP users when the system is launched on a new platform.
The system deployed at the NPP covers all key processes related to the equipment of nuclear power plants, including operational operation, maintenance and repairs, engineering support, resource management and documentation. It employs more than 13 thousand users - almost the entire operational and repair personnel of the NPP.
Within the framework of the import substitution project, it is planned to create a software and hardware complex, migrate the current solution to a new platform and complete improvements in the development of the system's functionality. The main contractor is Interprocom, and project management and expert support is carried out by Consyst-OC JSC.
It is expected that the import-substituted system will be put into commercial operation at the end of 2025 at eleven Russian nuclear power plants, including a floating nuclear thermal power plant, as well as in the Operational Dispatch Information Center, the crisis center and the central office of Rosenergoatom[1]
