2024: Implementation of baggage handling system in Terminal D

Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow resumed operation of terminal D. The terminal is equipped with an import-independent baggage handling system. The project was implemented jointly with the multidisciplinary technological group Reksoft in a short time. This was announced by "Reksoft" on July 8, 2024.

Terminal D of Sheremetyevo Airport is designed to serve passengers of domestic and international air lines. The total area of the terminal is 170.5 thousand square meters. m, throughput - 25 million passengers per year. It is home to an extensive check-in area for optimal passenger distribution (99 counters), as well as check-in counters for transfer passengers. As of July 2024, Terminal D serves all flights Pobeda Airlines operated from Sheremetyevo. Flights are operated to more than 25 destinations. There is also an inter-terminal crossing - an automated system for transporting passengers with unmanned trains under the airfield. Passengers can quickly travel from terminal D to terminals B, C and back in just 4 minutes.

The goal of the Sheremetyevo and Reksoft project was to modernize the existing baggage handling system and ensure comprehensive management of Terminal D equipment through its complete transfer to domestic software, which is included in the register of domestic software. The introduction of the system made it possible to fulfill the import substitution task.

The joint efforts of the Sheremetyevo and Reksoft teams completed the task of modernizing and launching the software and hardware complex at all levels. The entire huge baggage handling complex from the foreign manufacturer Vanderlande Industries is now under the control of the Russian software from Reksoft, which allows us to ensure the technological independence of Sheremetyevo Airport.

The system performs a comprehensive task of registration, sorting, inspection and delivery of baggage on board the aircraft, as well as its issuance to passengers. The complex includes 99 check-in counters, an extensive network of baggage transportation and sorting. In addition, the solution includes a multi-level inspection system and security monitoring tools. The system also provides for long-term and short-term storage of luggage of those travelers who arrived at the terminal long before departure.

Interaction with Reksoft allowed us to achieve the planned results on the implementation of a large-scale import-independent system within the established time frame. The solution used fully complies with the relevant Russian standards for sorting and screening baggage, and also takes into account the features of the largest terminal in Russia for servicing domestic and international air lines, "said Kirill Alifanov, Deputy General Director for Information Technology at Sheremetyevo International Airport.
