A Boeing spokesman said the plane was released in 1994 and served the company for thirty years. Boeing discontinued production of the 757 series aircraft in 2004.

This event can be compared to the March incident, when a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, carrying 235 passengers and 14 crew members, also lost its wheel during a flight from San Francisco to Osaka (Japan). Although no one on board was injured, the plane's fallen wheel damaged a parked vehicle. The car had a broken window, but there were no casualties. Earlier, in January 2024, a door in the air came off the Boeing 737 MAX 9, forcing flights to make an emergency landing. Several people were injured.

United Airlines planes have also been involved in a number of incidents. In March 2024, one of the airline's planes was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport due to a hydraulic system problem. That same month, another plane tried to land in Houston but rolled off the path and into the grass. In addition, in March, a plane with 167 passengers made an emergency landing in Houston after an engine fire. In April 2024, United Airlines reported a decrease in revenue of $200 million in the first quarter of the year due to various incidents.[1]
