2023: Spending 2.5 billion soms on digitalization of Kyrgyzstan in 4 years
On July 12, 2024, it became known that Kyrgyzstan spent 2.5 billion soms (about $29.4 million) on the country's digital transformation from 2019 to 2023. These funds were aimed at the development of the digital economy and the introduction of modern information and communication technologies in all sectors and spheres of the state.
According to the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, in 2024, 600 million soms (about $7.1 million) are allocated from the state budget for the implementation of measures and projects within the framework of the new concept "Digital Kyrgyzstan 2024-2028." This amount is 100 million soms (about $1.2 million) more than allocated annually in previous years.
The new concept of digital transformation of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2024-2028 provides for the implementation of more than 200 points, of which 89 events are planned for 2024. The plan includes measures to reform public administration, integrate government information systems, create digital infrastructure and develop artificial intelligence.
The concept pays special attention to the digitalization of key sectors of the economy and social sphere. In particular, it is planned to introduce digital technologies in health, education, agriculture, power, transport, construction and the system of social benefits.
Edil Baysalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted notable successes in the digital transformation of the activities of state bodies and the creation of a digital society. He also stressed the need to strengthen work on strategically important tasks and goals.
Within the framework of the new concept, it is planned to pay attention to the development of legislative processes, judicial and law enforcement systems in the context of digitalization. In addition, measures are provided in the field of disaster risk reduction, cybersecurity and personal data protection.[1]
