Bidzina Ivanishvili was born on February 18, 1956 in the village of Chorvila near the city of Chiatura, in the Sachhersky municipality of Georgia.

According to Bloomberg, Ivanishvili received the bulk of his fortune through income from the sale of privatized assets, which he became the owner of after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
