Last Release Date: May, 2012
Technology: Cloud Computing,  DWH

Each cloud storage of Atmos offers hundreds of thousands of users access to their data from every spot on the globe, from any device and at any time. The clouds used by more than 40 global providers in more than 70 countries worldwide on the basis of Atmos head the list of the available solutions allowing to store data easily and to get access to them from any place.

According to research agency 451 Group, the market of services in data storage in a public cloud will grow almost to 6 billion dollars by 2015. At the same time the annual average growth rate (CAGR) will be 47% 1. With growth of number of users of cloud services providers and the enterprises face new difficulties which concern expansion and management of services in providing cloud storages.

Explosive growth of number of mobile devices, application development, emergence of Big Data and growth of popularity of public clouds create new requirements to additional services and opportunities of global cloud access. Unlike the competing platforms of other EMC Atmos companies offers scalability on demand, the access and broad functionality necessary in order that providers and the enterprises were in advance ready to emergence of the new quickly growing requirements, could implement quicker cloud solutions and help clients to solve the problems lying outside their cloud implementations.

EMC Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform is the platform of storage for cloud services with self-service opportunities. Thanks to consolidation of powerful tools EMC Atmos and the intellectual platform of storage supporting cloud model, service providers and the enterprises will be able to propose to customers the complete solution for data storage as services (storage-as-a-service), and to make it for few days, but not months. Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform reduces the needs for own specialized development which can demand essential personnel and temporary resources. Considerable cutting of costs of service providers and enterprises, reduction of time and decrease in barriers to an output of new products and services for the market becomes result.

Key features of a system

  • The main feature of the EMC Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform platform are possibilities of self-service, including identification of end users and management of selection of resources (identity provisioning), an output of reports on the consumed resources of storage and the bandwidth of network. This platform includes the measurement module with expanded functions allowing to estimate the consumed resources of storage and bandwidth at the level of the end user. This very important means at management of the multi-user environment (including user groups). The module of measurement allows to levy also a service fee, provides ability to integrate functions of payment and billing for implementation of private and public cloud environments. Besides, this platform is designed as a flexible solution: service providers and the enterprises can address these self service features and measurements through the portal which is already available for the customer which is connected to Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform, or via the standard portal offered as a part of the platform.
  • The EMC Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform platform supplements EMC Atmos – the horizontally scalable object infrastructure of storage which is automatically managing global availability of unstructured data through policy. Using a combination of EMC Atmos and EMC Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform, service providers can provide to the customers services of storage from a public cloud, position themselves as the providers offering additional services with support of clouds, such as cloud archiving, backup and solutions for joint work that expands potentialities of increase in revenue.
  • EMC announced also improvements in the EMC Atmos system, including enhanced capabilities of work in the mode of collective lease – the general use and payment of resources (multi-tenancy). Now EMC Atmos logically separates data and administration on user groups (tenant) and subgroups (sub-tenant), and in the new version of a product these means of the general use of resources were expanded and now provide separation of the user groups at the level of network. Thereby security and operational efficiency for service providers and the companies supporting in the uniform separated cloud infrastructure several applications, departments and customers increases.
  • The division of EMC Consulting Services helps customers to build in Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform their architecture, including integration into the portal and adaptation to specific requirements of the customer, billing and customer service. Besides, new strategic services – the help in planning, design and start of solutions for service providers, ready to entry into the market, are offered. These services allow providers to unroll quickly offers on data storage as services and reduce barriers to an entry into quickly growing market.
