Each cloud storage of Atmos offers hundreds of thousands of users access to their data from every spot on the globe, from any device and at any time. The clouds used by more than 40 global providers in more than 70 countries worldwide on the basis of Atmos head the list of the available solutions allowing to store data easily and to get access to them from any place.

According to research agency 451 Group, the market of services in data storage in a public cloud will grow almost to 6 billion dollars by 2015. At the same time the annual average growth rate (CAGR) will be 47% 1. With growth of number of users of cloud services providers and the enterprises face new difficulties which concern expansion and management of services in providing cloud storages.

Explosive growth of number of mobile devices, application development, emergence of Big Data and growth of popularity of public clouds create new requirements to additional services and opportunities of global cloud access. Unlike the competing platforms of other EMC Atmos companies offers scalability on demand, the access and broad functionality necessary in order that providers and the enterprises were in advance ready to emergence of the new quickly growing requirements, could implement quicker cloud solutions and help clients to solve the problems lying outside their cloud implementations.

Global scaling

  • New network developments increase performance, improve availability and protection. These innovations provide more than for 50% growth of speed of a read and write of big objects. New features of segmentation and protection give an opportunity of separate management and data movement for users and administrators.
  • New Atmos Event Manager by 3 times improves system visibility, offering the improved signaling and group journalizing at the level of a system, a data processing center and a node; the solution is proposed by a view almost in real time of the general system activity and performance. From now on information on the history of monitoring can be browsed with breakdown by years, weeks and hours.
  • The new technology accelerates process of updating of nodes in global separate environments for 90% and allows the companies to remain 100-protsentno available with much the reduced service windows. Upgradeability without failures in rendering services is extremely important for the enterprises and suppliers who service clients day and night.

Cloud Accelerators

  • End users receive new options for access to Atmos cloud from the usual environments. The expanded packet of tools for web access includes support Google Chrome and HTML5 in addition to the existing support Firefox. Atmos GeoDrive for Windows is international now and offers end users an opportunity for work in the language.
  • Developers have a new number of opportunities in Atmos API which allow to allocate the applications with new functionality quickly. Among again appeared opportunities: the protected exclusive access for anonymous users, the programming interfaces API for capacity management (quotas) and a possibility of installation of identifiers on Atmos objects. Atmos Software Development Kit (SDK) from now on includes support of Google Android.
  • Traditionally used applications are bought by new tools and opportunities for moving of their content to a cloud environment. Clients with the integrated Centera® applications can move large volumes of metadata of Centera to any cloud of Atmos and create rules of lifecycle of data Atmos on the basis of these metadata. AtmosSync, the new instrument of migration open source, accelerates process of moving of content of the file system to a cloud.

EMC Atmos 2.0

EMC Atmos 2.0, – a cloud platform of storage of EMC with global access which provides more powerful and effective management of the distributed Big Data and a cloud environment. The new version works 5 times quicker and 65% more effectively.

EMC Atmos is intended for information management in large-scale infrastructures with various content and in circles of providers of cloud services. Its flexible architecture easily adapts to work in the virtualized environment or in specialized inexpensive hardware platforms of EMC with a high density of placement of capacity. In Atmos 2.0 new features of management of Big Data are applied:

  • storage of separate segments of an object instead of all object provides the highest reliability of data protection at the distributed storage. For example, at clients who in the productional environment use new GeoParity software the efficiency will improve for 65% at deployment of Atmos on 4 platforms that will significantly cut down maintenance expenses;
  • transparent access to a cloud. Using Atmos GeoDrive users and Windows applications will be able quickly to get access to a cloud. This new software is easily installed and already in a few minutes begins is transparent to move data to a cloud;
  • new EMC Atmos Software Development Kit (SDK) simplifies application integration and implements support of the Apple iOS and the integrated EMC Centera applications using Centera/XAM.

Besides, Atmos will provide compatibility for clients of Amazon S3. Now API for Amazon S3 undergoes beta testing and will provide to clients of Amazon S3 flexibility and freedom of choice of methods of use for storage of a cloud of Atmos.
