2024: Mobile Device Farm Launch

Selectel on July 15, 2024 announced the launch of a mobile device farm. This solution will allow customers to automate and speed up the testing of applications on different mobile devices, while improving the quality of products and reducing the time to market. The mobile device farm will enable mobile development teams to remotely debug and test applications on a large number of real devices with different technical parameters, which is much easier than creating and providing your own fleet.

Farm customers will have quick access to a wide fleet of devices with the ability to completely transfer testing of a mobile application to a cloud format for both manual and automatic tests. The farm allows you to simultaneously include in testing a large range of smartphones that most users use and not purchase test devices yourself. The product has successfully passed beta testing using smartphones from the most popular manufacturers in Russia with various versions of OS Android, processors, diagonals, performance and shell. As of July 2024, the Selectel farm is actively growing: the list of devices is expanding and new operating systems are emerging.

We see an active growth of mobile development in the Russian market - this is facilitated by the growth of digital solutions, and the spread of smartphones as the main device for solving everyday problems. According to forecasts, by 2027 the volume of the mobile application market in Russia may exceed 400 billion rubles, - said Igor Lepikhin, head of software and hardware solutions at Selectel. - In response to customer requests, we strive to offer them solutions that go beyond simple infrastructure products as a ready-made platform for working with application-level tasks. The mobile farm logically complements our cloud infrastructure services and allows you to quickly and cost-effectively launch the testing process. The solution is suitable for distributed commands of any size that do not have the physical ability to organize testing on real devices. It will also significantly expand the list of covered devices and guarantee the high quality of applications for end users.

During use, devices are recorded to the client without time limits for the working session and are not available to other users until the end of the lease. Developers and testers will be able to customize the individual environment for tests and, if necessary, create autotests. The new service has an intuitive interface with the ability to continuously integrate and deliver software (CI/CD) with Android Studio or Git, as well as additional tools for conducting tests that will be updated based on customer needs. After the termination of the lease, the devices are completely cleaned to ensure the security of the customer's data.
