2024: Recall of 1.12m defective ovens

In early August 2024, Samsung recalled more than 1.1 million ovens sold, which caused 250 fires, resulting in dozens of injuries and the death of at least seven pets.

According to Samsung's statement, the owners and pets accidentally turned on the handles on the front panel, which posed a fire risk if flammable items remained on the stove. Samsung has received more than 300 reports of similar incidents. Between 2013 and 2024, fires associated with these ovens caused significant property damage in 18 cases, and in 8 cases resulted in injuries requiring medical attention.
