2024: Implementation of Termidesk VDI

On August 9, 2024, it became known that the Russian POTermidesk VDI helped solve the problem of import substitution in desktop virtualization tools for the Alabuga SEZ.

Termidesk VDI

As reported, the peculiarities of the modern landscape of the Russian information technology market against the background of the mass exodus of foreign equipment and software manufacturers force domestic players to resort to various kinds of changes, to find non-trivial ways to solve urgent problems. This is more relevant for such technologically capacious projects as working with "heavy" 3D graphics in modern enterprises.

The special economic zone (SEZ) "Alabuga" faced the task of ensuring the productive operation of a resource-intensive software product for BIM design. To implement it, it was necessary to find, adapt and implement a domestic VDI solution that can provide the optimal level of comfort in working with design software. This solution was Termidesk VDI from the Russian manufacturer Uveon - Cloud Technologies.

Together with other the Russian developers, comprehensive integration was proposed with the Loudplay delivery protocol zVirt and the production virtualization platform. As Orion soft part of the project, more than 3,000 VDI jobs from Termidesk were introduced in the Alabuga SEZ, about 1,000 of which are specialized for working with 3D graphics. All components of the software solution are Russian developments, are part of "" and Register of Russian Software Ministry of Digital Development Russia have local technical support.

Combining VDI and vGPU technologies helps solve the problem of 3D graphics virtualization: the separation of graphics resources between several virtual machines or users. Modern technologies enable the use of a single physical graphics for processor multiple tasks, reducing hardware costs and providing scalability in general. 3D graphics virtualization allows you to provide graphics resources remotely, enabling complex design tasks even on low-performance workstations. Termidesk VDI facilitates the implementation of graphics virtualization (vGPU) projects through centralized management, optimizes software configuration, updating and support.

As part of the data center project, we have deployed several thousand VDI workplaces, despite the fact that commissioning is underway, but we still believe that the implementation was successful thanks to active support from Russian software developers and a system integrator.
