2024: Year of stable operation of two GreenMDC modular data centers in Buryatia
Two modular data centers developed by GreenMDC for the Lake Mining Company (OZ GRK) have been operating steadily at a remote mining and processing plant in Buryatia for a year. It is a hard-to-reach region with a sharply continental climate and temperatures ranging from -51 ° C in winter to + 45 ° C in summer. Since the beginning of operation, GreenMDC has been servicing World Data Centres. Oz GRK decided to extend the manufacturer's warranty for another two years. Representatives of GreenMDC announced this on August 12, 2024.
GreenMDC has developed and manufactured two modular data centers for the Lake Mining Company - a scalable TelecomOutdoor NGm (TONGm) and a mini-data center CUBiC. Both data centers are designed to operate in a place significantly remote from the city infrastructure. When creating them, the need was taken into account for operation in extremely severe winters (up to -51 ° C) and hot summers (up to + 45 ° C), with strong daily temperature drops, as well as serious wind and snow loads. For this, special structures and equipment were used, including for ventilation and air conditioning, adapted to extreme temperatures.
GreenMDC not only developed the design, produced, delivered and installed data centers, but also took over their subsequent service in a hard-to-reach region. After a year of using data centers, the customer acquired additional certificates for the extension of the warranty, which confirms the high quality of GreenMDC service.
Lake GOK is a mining enterprise located in the south of the Republic of Buryatia in the Eravninsky district, 60 km from the regional center, 180 km north of the Trans-Siberian Railway and 30 km from the federal highway. Ulan-Ude The lake is one of the largest zinc-lead deposits. Russia However, its development was long delayed due to the lack of technology to allow work in a hard-to-reach area. Construction GOK began only in 2021. To ensure the connectivity and integration of the entire infrastructure of a huge enterprise, the Lake Mining Company ordered two World Data Centre from GreenMDC, one of which is scalable. As of August 2024, data centers combine, video surveillance systems security and communications of various GOK facilities.
"It was not easy to transport modular data centers. The final part of the journey they were taken along a difficult dirt road through the taiga. Due to the complex and remote location of the facility, our company has focused on the maximum factory readiness of solutions. All the key components of the World Data Centre were produced and almost completely assembled in production in St. Petersburg. This made it possible to significantly simplify installation and eliminate traditional construction difficulties associated with a shortage or inconsistency of parts on the spot. Pre-assembled data centers have passed mandatory factory testing with a full payload, "said Georgy Malyshev, commercial director of GreenMDC. |
When creating World Data Centres, GreenMDC takes into account the peculiarities of the climatic zones in which they are to be operated. Thus, for one of the data centers of the Lake Mining Company, an attached vestibule is provided for -51 ° C in accordance with the configuration requirements. It has two doors: an external door, which can be opened by any employee of the GOK, and an internal door with an access control and control system (MCDS). This allows employees to change clothes in comfortable conditions before entering the main module of the data center, the company said.
Scalable World Data Centre TelecomOutdoor NGm is designed to accommodate up to 8 server cabinets with an estimated power of 50 kW. It was delivered as three pre-assembled starter modules: one module with a vestibule and space for installing two 600 mm wide server cabinets and two expansion modules for installing three 800 mm wide server cabinets each. The second modular data center - CUBiC - consists of one typical 8x3 m module and can accommodate up to two server cabinets. Both data centers are provided with a guaranteed power supply system with a diesel generator unit, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with N + 1 redundancy and a battery life of 20 minutes and precision air conditioners. The equipment is equipped with a system for monitoring climatic indicators and operating parameters of engineering systems, as well as fire extinguishing and video surveillance systems.
