In mid-August 2024, it became known that the state corporation Roscosmos had begun to develop a single PLM system for product life cycle management in the rocket and space industry. The cost of the project will be ₽2,7 billion. The project is aimed at reducing the duration of scientific, technical and development work, as well as the transition to an industrial model of serial production of rocket and space technology. The PLM system is expected to be fully implemented in 2025.
The development of a new information environment for Roscosmos is being carried out by the TOP Systems company. According to Dmitry Chernov, Deputy General Director for Digital Transformation of TsNIImash JSC, the project is at the third stage of development, and the fourth will be final. During the implementation of the project, the state corporation plans to integrate all stages of product creation into a single environment, which will optimize development and production processes, minimize errors and reduce the duration of technological cycles.
The PLM system belongs software to the Product Lifecycle Management category. The introduction of this system will mean a significant step forward for the Russian space industry, becoming the first such solution in the world. The main goal is to create a single technological platform that can coordinate all stages of work - from design to serial production of rockets and spacecraft.
Roscosmos is actively engaged in the digital transformation of its activities, within the framework of which foreign software is replaced. According to Dmitry Chernov, this project is a key element of the industrial transformation of the entire industry, and its successful implementation will allow Russia to strengthen its position in the market for high-tech products. The development and implementation of the new PLM system received the status of a particularly significant project (OZP), which is confirmed by grant support from the Russian Information Technology Development Fund (RFRIT), which is part of the Roscosmos ВЭБ.РФ. group[1]
