2024: Road Opening

In the Republic of Crimea, the construction of a new high-speed highway Simferopol - Evpatoria - Mirny has been completed. The final section of the road, worth more than ₽48 billion, was officially commissioned ahead of schedule in August 2024. The opening of the road allows you to significantly reduce travel time and improve transport links between the cities of the peninsula.

According to the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, the new route is an important infrastructure project carried out on behalf of the president. Russia Vladimir Putin The road provides convenient and quick access to the northwest coast of the peninsula and significantly unloads transport hubs in Yevpatoria and Saki. Aksenov also noted that the implementation of the project was completed ahead of schedule and at a high technical level.

A new high-speed highway was opened in Crimea for 48 billion rubles

The new 61.2 km section of the road bypasses Sasyk-Sivash Lake and includes 17 bridges and overpasses, eight traffic interchanges and four lanes. The highway will significantly improve transport links between Simferopol and the village of Mirny, as well as reduce the load on the street-road transit transport network in the settlements of the region. The project was implemented by the road construction company VAD, which previously built the Tavrida highway.

The first section of the 25 km long route was commissioned in 2021, and final construction was completed in 2024. The customer of the project was the Highway Service of the Republic of Crimea. The general director of the WAD company Valery Abramov and the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov personally attended the opening ceremony and cut the red ribbon.

According to Kommersant, the new road plays an important role in the transport system of the peninsula and is a branch of the Tavrida A-291 highway, which connects Kerch, Simferopol and Sevastopol. According to the authorities, the route will also provide convenient access to resort areas under construction, including the Golden Sands of Russia and Crimean Riviera projects in the Yevpatoria and Sak areas. Travel from Simferopol to these resorts now takes about 20 minutes, and from Sevastopol - only an hour.[1]
