2024: Application of robot in Perm
In Perm, they began to use robots to inspect and diagnose main water pipelines. This became known in August 2024. This became part of a program to improve the reliability of water supply and sanitation, implemented in the city. The use of modern technologies makes it possible to ensure the quality control of pipelines, significantly extending their service life.
According to 59.ru, the specialists of the Novogorsk-Prikamye company have introduced robots to examine water pipelines that transport water from the Chusovsky water intake to Perm. With their help, one kilometer of a steel pipeline in the area of Frunze Street has already been checked. As part of this inspection, robots identified defects, raids and corrosive damage, which were then repaired. After the completion of all work, the specialists applied a cement-sand coating to the internal walls of the pipes, which should prevent further formation of plaque and corrosion.
This stage of work was part of a multi-year program, designed for the period from 2023 to 2025, and aimed at updating more than 60 kilometers of pipelines in Perm. In 2023, it is planned to update more than 20 kilometers of networks, and the total cost of implementing the program will exceed ₽500 million. As the representative of the company noted, work is carried out with minimal excavation, which allows to significantly reduce interference in the city infrastructure and minimize inconvenience for citizens.
The process of inspecting and diagnosing water lines involves several key steps. First, special pits are created in certain places to access pipes. After that, robots carry out telediagnostics, clean the internal walls of pipes from accumulated deposits and eliminate the detected defects. Then a protective coating is applied to the cleaned areas, which prevents the development of corrosion and extends the service life of the pipes by several decades. According to company representatives, this technology allows you to operate pipelines for another 30-40 years.[1]
