2024: Sentence - 6.5 years in a maximum security colony
In early September 2024, it became known that Semyon Dobkin, the 76-year-old brother of the founder of ERAMRKADIA Dobkin, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison with serving a sentence in a maximum security colony. The decision was made by the court of the Leninsky district of Brest.
According to Our Nіva, together with Semyon Dobkin, his deputy Yuri Zhulaev received a similar term.
Semyon Dobkin and Yuri Zhulaev were found guilty under the third part of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for punishment for taking a bribe. This part of the article refers to the most serious crimes related to corruption, and provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 15 years. The circumstances of the case and details of the allegations remain unknown.
Semyon Dobkin held a leadership position at the Open Joint Stock Company "Head Specialized Design Bureau" (GSKB), which is the largest manufacturer of heating equipment in Belarus. The company's products, including water and steam boilers, burners and modular boiler houses, are used at various social facilities, including the Silichi National Library and Resort.
Earlier, in December 2023, it became known about the detention of the leaders of the GSKB, which caused a wide public outcry. The trial of Semyon Dobkin and Yuri Zhulaev began on July 9, 2024, chaired by Judge Dmitry Shurin.
Arkady Dobkin, the founder of EPAM and brother of the convict, lives in the United States and has not visited Belarus since his name was publicly mentioned in a negative context by President Alexander Lukashenko, who accused him of financing the protests. Since then, Arkady Dobkin has no longer returned to his homeland.[1]
