History

2024: Educator convicted of beating children

On September 4, 2024, the Shchigrovsky District Court convicted a 55-year-old woman, a former teacher of a social assistance center. She received a sentence for beating children and insulting pupils.

The investigation established that the defendant (the name is not disclosed), being the teacher of the social assistance center, during the period of working shifts from April to May 2022 caused physical and mental suffering to the young pupil (born in 2015). In particular, the woman struck the child with her hand on the arms, shoulder, as well as a towel in the face. These actions were accompanied by offensive statements.

In addition, from February to November 2022, a woman systematically expressed insults against four pupils, punched them with her hands and a towel on various parts of the body. The investigators collected an "exhaustive evidence base," which was based on the testimony of witnesses, examination protocols, expert conclusions, which made it possible to expose the teacher in the commission of these crimes.

The defendant pleaded not guilty. Nevertheless, the court found her guilty of committing crimes under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Art. 117 (in torturing a minor), Art. 156 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (in improper performance of duties to raise minors). The woman received a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 3 years 1 month conditionally, with a probationary period of 2 years. Additional punishment - deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the upbringing and education of minor children, for 2 years.

The investigation and the court established that in the period from April to May 2022, as well as from February to November 2022, the defendant, being a teacher of a social assistance center, inflicted physical and mental suffering on young pupils, striking them with her hand on the hands, shoulders, accompanying their actions with offensive statements, and also committed other violent acts against them, thereby tortured them, - said in a statement by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region.[1]
