In Novosibirsk, in September 2024, they began to use lawn mower robots to serve urban areas. The first tests took place in the Leninsky district, where the car, nicknamed "Locust," demonstrated its effectiveness in areas with high growth. This unique device can replace the work of several workers at once, significantly speeding up the process of lawn care. According to representatives of the contractor, such robots can work up to eight hours without interruption, which allows you to perform tasks faster and at a lower cost.

According to Novosibirsk News, Locust is a drone developed in Krasnoobsk, Novosibirsk Region. It is controlled by an operator who monitors the direction of movement and the safety of the process. The robot is equipped with a powerful system that allows you to cut grass ten times faster than a person. Novosibirsk City Hall has already shown interest in this innovative technology and is considering acquiring 10 such robots for further use in other areas of the city. The cost of one device is ₽1,5 million rubles.

According to the publication, the introduction of robots is due to the lack of working personnel in the field of improvement. For autumn 2024, the provision of road workers is only 40%. That is why the use of robots to cut lawns becomes not only a technological breakthrough, but also a solution to the urgent problem of staff shortages. At the same time, the final decision on the purchase of robots will be made after testing is completed.

In addition to the main task - mowing lawns - round-the-clock improvement work continues in the Leninsky district: workers sweep sidewalks, wash stops, cut trees and perform other necessary work. According to the head of the improvement and transport department of the district administration Dmitry Nechaev, innovations in the field of cleaning have already shown their effectiveness. The number of complaints from local residents about the cleanliness of the streets has decreased significantly, and the quality of the work has become noticeably better thanks to the use of modern technology.^[1]
