Biography

2024: Arrest in the United States in the case of the supply of microelectronics to Russia

In mid-September 2024, it became known that Russian citizen Denis Postovoy, 44 years old, living in Sarasota, Florida, was arrested in the case of the supply of military microelectronics from the United States to Russia. He was charged with conspiring to violate the Export Control Reform Act, smuggling, money laundering and fraud.

The indictment alleges that, starting at least in February 2022, Postovoy purchased and illegally exported military microelectronic components from the United States to Russia. Exported microelectronics can be used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones). Through a network of companies he owns or operates in Russia, Hong Kong and elsewhere, Postovoy and his authorized individuals purchased microelectronics from American distributors and exported it to Russia without having the necessary licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The conclusion says that "the accused hid the final destination of the technological products sent to him and used intermediate destinations to hide illegal activities."

Postovoy's companies allegedly included WowCube HK Limited, JST Group Hong Kong, Jove HK Limited (based in Hong Kong) and Vector Group (in Russia). Postovoy repeatedly hid and distorted true end users and final destinations for microelectronics supplies. It overloaded goods at intermediate destinations, including Hong Kong and Switzerland, and received payments from foreign bank accounts.
