S7 signed a contract for the purchase of 100 Tu-214 aircraft

In September 2024, S7 Airlines signed a memorandum with PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) on the supply of 100 improved Tu-214 aircraft. The document was signed at the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov in the presence of Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. As part of the agreement, the airline plans to significantly expand its fleet to include new models of Russian-made aircraft.

According to the press service of S7, the memorandum envisages joint work to agree on the volumes of supplies, deadlines and other important terms of the transaction. It is planned that by the end of 2024 an agreement will be signed for the first 10 aircraft in the standard specification. The remaining 90 aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2025 and will differ in a modified specification in accordance with the requirements of S7 Airlines. According to representatives, "Tupolev" the Tu-214 is a medium-haul narrow-body aircraft capable of accommodating up to 210 passengers and covering a distance of up to 6500 km.

According to Tupolev, Tu-214 aircraft have been produced at the Kazan Aviation Plant since 1996 and are produced in a limited series. They are highly reliable and capable of servicing medium-sized highways, which perfectly meets the needs of the airline. The new modification, which the S7 plans to receive, involves improved technical characteristics and comfort for passengers.

Earlier, the UAC announced plans to build 70 Tu-214 aircraft by 2030. Aeroflot signed an agreement with the UAC for the supply of 339 new Russian aircraft, including 40 Tu-214 units. In May 2024, Rostec and Aeroflot agreed to supply 11 such aircraft in the coming years, concluding firm contracts for the supply of aircraft.^[1]
