Rostelecom has invested more than 400 million rubles in the development of the digital infrastructure of Kalmykia for the period from 2021. The operator announced this on September 23, 2024. The company, within the framework of the federal program "Digital Region," is implementing a number of projects, including connecting important social facilities to the Internet, organizing the operation of a video surveillance system in government agencies, building mobile base stations in remote areas and others.

Within the framework of the regional project "Information Infrastructure" of the national program "Digital Economy of Russia," the company's specialists provided access to the Internet to 369 socially significant objects. In 2022-2023, in order to eliminate digital inequality, the company's specialists commissioned 11 base stations in seven districts of the republic. As a result, about two thousand households were able to use a large range of digital services and services. By the end of 2024, the company plans to have six more base stations.

The national digital provider organized Internet access in accordance with the Digital School standards for 184 educational and professional institutions of the republic. A secure connection provides monitoring of data links, protection of channels against DDoS attacks and firewall, crypto data protection and other elements of cybersecurity. Rostelecom also modernized the regional automated centralized notification system (RACCO) of the population of Kalmykia. Within the framework of the project, 45 facilities in Elista and 13 districts are connected via high-speed optical communication channels to the RASCO. In addition, the company's specialists organized cloud video surveillance to monitor repair and construction work at 50 important social facilities in the republic. The decision combined video streams from different objects on the principle of a single window and ensured control by the government of the republic. In total, more than 350 organizations in the region use Rostelecom's Video Surveillance service.
