2024: Launch of heat-resistant cast iron production for the automotive industry for 650 million rubles

In the Yaroslavl region in September 2024, a new plant for the smelting of heat-resistant cast iron for the automotive industry was launched. Investments in the project amounted to ₽650 million. "Foundry and Mechanical Plant" ("LMZ Rybinsk") began to produce high-quality components using casting technology according to gasified models (LGM).

The production capacity of the new facility is up to 2 thousand tons of products per year. The workshop is equipped with modern equipment, including a molding line, compressor and steam generating plants, as well as melting furnaces.

The project was financed by the Industrial Investments Group of Companies, which includes LMZ Rybinsk, as well as with the support of the Industrial Development Fund, which allocated ₽250 million.

The main consumer of the products of the new plant will be the Avtodiesel enterprise, which produces YaMZ engines. In addition, among the partners of the Rybinsk plant is the Turbocomplekt company, which plans to use castings to fully localize the production of turbochargers in Russia.

The technology of casting according to gasifiable models of heat-resistant cast iron makes it possible to significantly improve the accuracy of castings, eliminating the need for additional processing. This method makes it possible to produce parts of complex shape and different configurations.

Andrei Alexandrov, General Director of Industrial Investments Group of Companies, noted that the opening of a new production site in Rybinsk is an important step in the field of import substitution and providing leading Russian manufacturers with domestic components.

The Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev emphasized the importance of new production to strengthen the position of the region as one of the leading industrial centers of the country.[1]
