2022: From the ex-head of the bank seized 140 paintings in Italy and accused of tax evasion

Paintings by Picasso, Cezanne, Kandinsky and Shagal were seized from a former banker from Soyuzny Bank as a result of searches in Italy in March 2022. In total, investigators found more than 140 canvases. Their owner, Lanfranco Chirillo, after 20 years in Russia, was accused of money laundering and tax evasion in Italy.

2018: License revocation

From October 25, 2018, the Bank of Russia revoked the license for banking activities from two banks:  SOYUZNY and Uraltransbank. This was reported in the press service of the Central Bank.

According to the reporting data , in terms of assets per  01.10.2018, SOYUZNY Bank ranked 239  in the banking system of the Russian Federation,  and Uraltransbank ranked 196.

"OOO KB SOYUZNY   has long been  in the field of view of the Bank of Russia  in connection  with the implementation of suspicious transit operations. At the same time, despite the   work carried out by the supervisory authority with the bank, the decrease in the volume of these operations did not  occur. In addition,  in the III quarter of this year, the bank conducted high-risk transactions of customers related  to the sale of cash revenue by retail companies. These circumstances testified to the  lack of   intentions of the management and owners of the credit institution to take effective measures aimed at  suppressing involvement  in the dubious activities of its  customers, "the regulator said.

The Bank of Russia has repeatedly (6  times  over the past 12  months) applied   supervisory measures against OOO KB SOYUZNY , including introducing a restriction  on attracting funds from the population.
